NEW PICK UP PROCEDURE
STARTING THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST
- Parents/Guardian who are picking up students will enter the building at the east end of of Baker Elementary -- see map below.
- Students will be waiting in the hallway, near their teacher's picture.
- Parents/Guardians will secure their child in the hallway and then exit through the front doors.
- As parents/guardians exit, they will sign out students on sign-out sheets.
- The east end doors will open at 3:55 pm each day for parents/guardians to enter the building and pick up students.
- For security reasons, parents/guardians must wait outside until 3:55. You are encouraged to wait in your car until the doors open to avoid standing in inclement weather.
If you have any questions, please contact the Baker Office at 269.792.9208.
*Once you have secured your child, please exit the building right away. Our goal is to have parents/guardians secure children in a quicker manner so we can free up parking in the front lot.
In coming up with this plan for revising our pick-up process, we've considered many factors, talked with several safety agencies and listened to many suggestions. Our plan tries to takes into account 1) the ever-increasing number of parents who pick-up students, 2) the flow of traffic along Sycamore (traffic easily backs up in both directions blocking traffic and buses), 3) our building safety protocols during school hours, 4) land constraints that limit parking, 5) building security, and 6) limited parking and traffic loop space in the front of the building. We are hoping for a positive outcome as we try this new procedure. We hope by allowing parents and caregivers to secure their child by the hand instead of waiting for recognition at the double doors ... pick up will be safer and more efficient.
