Message From Principal Engdall
Greeting Shaw Montessori Community,
The question, “Do you remember your summer vacation of 2020?” is most likely one that children and adults will be able to answer without much thought for many years to come! We have spent a great part of our summer training and preparing Google Classrooms to meet the learning needs of our children. We have taken crash courses in on-line instruction and have come up with creative ways to keep the essence of our beautiful Montessori environments, especially in the areas of classroom community and hands on materials. These two things have guided our planning and ultimately our delivery. We look forward to hearing from you as to how we are doing, how we can do it better and most importantly how your child is responding. Please email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
Please join us for Back to School Night on August 4th. Presentations will be held via ZOOM and/or Google Meets. You should have received an invite, if not, please reach out via email to your classroom teacher. You do not want to miss all of the information they have to share. Primary (prek and k) meetings will be held from 4:00-5:00, lower elementary (1st-3rd grades) will be held from 5:00-6:00, upper elementary (4th-6th grades) will be held from 6:00-7:00 and middle school (7th-8th grades) from 7:00-8:00.
You may preview Google Classrooms directions here: https://sites.google.com/pesd1.org/onlinelearning This is how our Distance Learning Model will be delivered, online, at home with your child’s Montessori teacher. Your child’s teacher will go over the Google platform, daily schedules, necessary supplies and expectations at Back to School Night.
Teachers will be taking attendance daily. Online Distance Learning school is just like in person school in that your child needs to be with their community, each and every day, on time, learning! Your child will be doing asynchronous learning on Monday’s. Tuesday-Friday the teachers will be online with students from 8:35-3:35.
Attached (directly below) you will find a link to our Home Learning Handbook. It is a supplemental guide that may assist you in supporting your child with their learning at home for each grade level.
At this point Distance Learning is the only platform offered by our district. When Governor Ducey has lifted in-person restrictions Blended Learning and the iAcademy may be options. We will keep you informed as those changes occur.
Welcome back, it is good to be in community with you again!
All the best,
