Dear Ely Families,

We are nearing the end of the 2021-2022 school year. It is hard to believe that in a few short weeks we will be done with another school year and enjoying summer vacation with family and friends. Even though we are nearing the end of the year please note that we have several upcoming events for our students to participate in.

In the coming week's we will be having two walking field trips. Students will be participating with their class on a walking field trip to Twist 'N Shake. In addition, the entire school will participate in the Flower Walk (June 2). Please note that both of these upcoming walking field trips will require a permission slip for your child to attend. If you have further questions please reach out to your child's teacher or the front office.

As we come to the end of this school year we will be celebrating our 4th grade students as they will transition to the middle school for the 2022-2023 school year. On June 9 we encourage our families of 4th grade students to join us for a breakfast. This will be a great opportunity to celebrate all of the wonderful achievements that your child has accomplished this year, while enjoying a wonderful breakfast buffet. Please make sure that if you plan on attending that you have turned in the paper to your child's teacher. Also on June 10th we will be participating in a clap out for our 4th grade students. This event will begin at 2:00PM. Parents and families are encouraged to come up to the school a little before 2:00 to celebrate with us, as we Clap the 4th graders out of Ely and they begin the next chapter in the lives.

Finally, all of our students will be participating in two events during the month of June. Our first event is Field Day which will be taking place on, June 1. The other event is taking place June 9 and that is our PBIS Bounce House event. In order for your child to participate in this event they need at least 20 Pioneer Cash/Dojo Points and no referrals during the 4th Quarter. Please talk with your child about how many Dojo/Pioneer Cash they currently have. For the PBIS Bounce House Event students will need a signed permission slip in order to participate in the Bounce Houses.

STUDENTS SHOULD NOT BE DROPPED OFF AT THE SCHOOL PRIOR TO 8:55!!

• Please note that the tardy bell rings at 9:10. Any child being dropped off after this time their parent will need to sign them in the front office.
• Please turn right out of the parking lot during the indicated times on the sign to help with traffic in the car loop.
• Please do not park in the small loop-this loop is for daycare and busses only.
• Parent please only have your child get out of your vehicle on the passenger side. They should not be getting on the drivers side as this can cause a safety concern

Any parent/guardian picking up a student in the car rider line will need to make sure that their car rider tag is visible in the car. Please note that the purpose for this car rider tag is to ensure a safe and smooth dismissal at Ely. Parents please make sure that you are leaving your car rider tag up in the car till your child gets into the car.

• Please make sure you are pulling all the way forward
• Please try to avoid backing up traffic on Ohio Street and Gulf. You may use the smaller parking lot located closest to Gulf (American Legion).
• Please stay in your car. If you do need to get out of your car to help your child, please use a parking spot
• Please have your child load and unload on the curbside of the school (passenger side of car) for your child's safety
• Please do not park in the bus/day care rider loop. You may use the provided parking spaces.
• Please turn right out of the parking lot during the indicated times on the sign to help with traffic in the car loop.

Ely Elementary School maintains the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.) to further support our students' success. Thursday, June 9th students will have the opportunity to participate in a P.B.I.S. reward event. The May/June reward will consist of bounce houses and cotton candy. Students are required to meet certain criteria to participate in this event:

• Have at least 20 Pioneer Cash/Dojo Points

• No office referrals during the 4th Quarter

If your child/children has the opportunity they will need to submit a signed waiver form. If you have multiple students that attend Ely please include all children on the same form. Please note that filling out this waiver does not guarantee your child attends the event (they must meet the above criteria in order to participate).
