The Gower Gazette
Week 30- April 18, 2019
In The Classroom...
The kids worked hard this week to finish their fairytales. We've got some creative thinkers in our class. We can't wait to start publishing our stories when we track back in. Our class fairytale turned out to be pretty awesome too. We had lots of fun sharing ideas and piecing it together. We will be turning it into a cartoon after track out and sharing it with you all at our Storybook Ball.
We are still working on double digit addition and subtraction and being able to add/subtract 10 mentally. Keep working with your child on this skill over break. When we track back in, we will start our shapes unit.
We wrapped up mapping with making a classroom map and using QR codes to find places on the globe.
We had an awesome Skype on Wednesday to Point Lobos in California where the kids learned about the giant kelp forest and how this habitat supports animal life. It was really cool. Ask your child about it!
Keep Science in mind during break and make sure your child works on his/her animal research project. They've already done the research. Now, they just need to create a visual to display at our Zoo. I have given each child another copy of the project details and rubric for you to reference as y'all work on these.
Your child has a ziplock bag with school information and their work. Please go through these over break. They do not need to bring the ziplock bag back to school.
Please see the NOTES section for important information and things your child can work on during track out.
As you can see this week, though short, has been super busy. Remember that I will be out of the country for the next two weeks and will not have the ability to check emails or Class Dojo. I hope you all have a terrific break.
Take Care,
Ms. Gower
Congrats AR Readers!!!
We Could Use...
- A terrific and relaxing break. =)
Mark Your Calendars~
- May 10- Track In Day & Baby Bengal Bash!
- May 20- Animal Research Projects Due
- May 24- Wax Museum/Zoo (Students come dressed as their animal. Zoo opens at 9:30 and is floating until 12:15)
Notes:
- Class Website- As always, I will have a read and respond blog posted for students to share the books they read over break. If they read 7 books or 1 chapter book over track out then they can have lunch with me when we track back in. I will also have a new Math Stumper Posted.
- iReady- This is the BEST program your child can use during break. It targets their individual needs. Please remember that they must use this site independently in order for it to help them grow academically. The kids know how to log in and they love using it. I encourage them to use throughout break.
- Animal Research Project- Look in your child's ziplock bag for project info. I am resending this for you. Hopefully you kept their research they did in class to help them with this project. These are due May 20th and our Zoo is on May 24.
- Baby Bengal Bash- This is on May 10th our Track In Day. I will be there to join in the fun. I hope you guys can make it too.
