From Mrs. Baker...
Dear Sellersville Families;
I want to thank you for a great year at Sellersville Elementary! This year flew by so quickly!
* During the summer you will need to log onto the Parent Portal to update student information. This is also where the bussing information and new teacher information will be accessed. This process will start sometime in late August. More information and formal directions will be forthcoming via Blackboard Connect over the summer.
* OPEN HOUSE: All of the Pennridge Elementary Schools will host their Open Houses at the following date and times: For grades K-2 Open House will start at 6:00 on Tuesday, August 28, 2018. Open House for grade 3-5 will start at 6:00 on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. More information will be sent via Blackboard Connect this summer.
* SELF GUIDED CLASSROOM TOURS for grades 1 thru 5 will be held on Thursday,
August 30, 2018 from 2:30-3:30. Kindergarten self-guided tours are to be announced.
* The Sellersville office will be open Monday thru Thursday from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm starting June 18, 2018. Sellerville’s office will be closed from June 28th to July 6th. Please call ahead to make sure the office is open.
*Please watch for Blackboard Connects this summer. We will be updating information for next year as it becomes available. If your current email and phone number are not in the Parent Portal, please update this ASAP so you don’t miss out over the summer!
*As of January 1, 2015, the state requires that all school volunteers have FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse, Police, and TB testing. You will need all 4 clearances to assist in classrooms, go on field trips, and volunteer in the school. Please see the clearance information on the Sellersville website at http://sellersville.pennridge.org under Quick Links. Once cleared, these are valid for 5 years.
*Directory-each year the PTU puts out a directory. You must be in the directory if you would like your child invited to parties, etc. Directory information will be coming out in late August.
* Parent Conferences will again be held in November. Conferences are for all students and are a great time for parents and guardians to check in with their teachers and learn about the child’s progress.
*If you are moving over the summer (even if it’s in the Pennridge School District), you must come into the office and fill out paperwork. Please contact Mrs. Wagenmann if you have any questions.
* District’s "Sister Schooling" Program Continues….
Starting with the 2014-15 school year, the Pennridge School District implemented a "Sister Schooling" program for new elementary school students in grades 1-5. This program may affect what school new enrollees will attend for their first year in the district.
Here's how it worked:
As soon as registration opens for the next school year (usually in May), the Registration Office tracks of all new students who enroll. Parents/guardians of those new students will be given notification by letter at the time of registration that they may be sent to a “Sister School” if the enrollment numbers by the second Monday in August exceed the elementary class size guidelines.
The enrollments of each school by grade level will be monitored throughout the spring and summer. A decision regarding class sections will be made by the second Monday in August before the start of the new school year. Those students who registered and were notified that they may attend a “Sister School” will be put through a process that prioritizes who will be sent to a “Sister School.”
Students who have been selected to attend a “Sister School” will be transported at the Pennridge School District’s expense. Siblings of those students will have the option of attending the “Sister School” for that year as well and will be transported at the Pennridge School District expense. The following year, those students (and siblings) will automatically be assigned to the home attendance school.

From the Nurse...
As our school year comes to an end………
· All medications in the health office must be picked up by the student’s parents (or their legal guardians) by the last day of school. Medications not picked up will be destroyed. Please remember that if your child needs medication in school for the next school year we will need a new medication authorization completed by their physician. Medication forms are available on our website.
· If your child has a life threatening health condition such a severe allergies, diabetes etc. the nurse will email you the relevant paperwork that you must have your physician complete for the 2018/19 school year.
· 2nd Grade Parents - If your child still needs the dental exam for 3rd grade, dental forms are available on our website. Please take care of this over the summer.
· 5th Grade Parents - If your child still needs the physical exam for 6th grade, physical forms are available on our website. Please take care of this over the summer. However, please make sure that you give your child’s physical to the nurse at the middle school.
· Fall of 2018 Kindergarten students - If your child will be attending Kindergarten this fall, he/she will need to have certain completed medical documents submitted to the health office no later than September 30, 2018. These are: a Physical form (we accept any physical exam completed after 9/1/2017), a Dental form (we accept any dental exam completed after 9/1/2017).
Lastly when they start Kindergarten they must be up to date with their immunizations. If your child is not up to date they will be excluded from attending school after 9/10/2018.
Call the school nurse with any questions. Thank you. J
Have a safe and wonderful summer!
Way to go Sellersville Families!!!
We ran a FANTASTIC Race for Education!
The 2018 Race for Education is one for the record book – we raised over $39,000 for our school! Thank you so much to the staff, the students and their families for making this important fundraiser a tremendous success. It would not happen without your efforts to submit labels and request support from your friends and family. If your child submitted labels, the letters that were returned are attached for you to use to thank those that donated. We would also like to acknowledge the local businesses listed below for their generous contributions. In return for their support, we encourage you to patronize these businesses and when you do, thank them for supporting Sellersville Elementary School.

New School Registration
The Pennridge School District is currently in the process of registering any new student that will be entering for the 2018-2019 school year. Camp Invention® is returning to Pennridge
Imaginations get their rocket fuel at Camp Invention!
Two exciting, weeklong summer adventures await children entering grades K-6 with activities that explore connections between science, technology, engineering, and innovation while sharpening their 21st century learning skills. Camp Invention allows children to experience real-world problem solving, creative thinking, invention, and teamwork while rotating through several fascinating modules inspired by the Inductees of the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Week 1 runs July 16-19. Week 2 runs July 23-26. Both sessions will be at Penn Central Middle School from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Children can attend either one or both weeks, as there is no concept overlap. For more information, see the camp flyer at http://bit.ly/2sDvovM
Arrival to School
This is just a reminder that if the front doors of school are closed in the morning (they are closed at 8:35 am), you must park your car and walk your students into the main office for their safety. Kindergarten doors do not close until 8:45 am.
