SEL Lesson for NEXT Week (Feb 3-7)
Circle: Reflect on your social roles. Discuss IF and HOW trigger situations affect their roles. "If you could trade places with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?" (May make some connections to the roles that person plays, etc.)
Skill Introduction: Ask students to think about roles they do not play now, but might like to, either soon or in the future. Are they ready for those roles? Anything they need to work on to be ready to take on those roles? What do they HOPE to be in those roles--what does it take to achieve it and be good at it? (Help students see how the skills you've been working on can help them attain and keep the roles they hope to have)
Journal: How have students' social roles changed since they were younger? Often the changes seem small or incremental, relating to areas such as responsibilities and independence. How have students had to adapt to changing roles?
