Earthquakes PBL
So this was a fun and challenging project. The purpose was to pick a place to build a house that would be able to withstand natural disaters. We followed the driving question: How can we, as structural engineers, build a two-story house for Tony Stark that can withstand seismic activity? So we chose a safe location to "build" the house, and we got to building. Our team design was a simple two-story house with a strong base and a cube made of popsicle sticks for the upper half. The lower half was made of bent straws and toothpicks.
30 Hands Project
The 30 Hands Project was all about the atmosphere. We talked about global warming and climate change. I myself learned a ton about both, such as what they are, what's causing them, and what they're doing. What was really fun was that you could do the slides on PicCollage, so everything was pretty much limited to your own creativity. And the requirements, of course. I also liked that we had to narrate the slides, because it made the project more fun.
Invention Convention
So basically, our invention is a machine that will be able to convert trash into ethanol, which is something that cars can be powered by. This solves the problem of landfills, because all the trash that will usually go to the landfills will go to making ethanol instead. Also, non-renewable resources will no longer go to powering cars. Out of the three R's, (reduce, reuse, recycle), our invention mainly has reuse, because we're reusing trash.
