This Sunday: “Where Is God Present?”
The Good Book Review
Check out this review about “The Good Book,” which is the focus of our current worship series. Our Vista Forum class is studying the book, as well as a Thursday night book club of adults and children. The book by Deron Spoo is available in hardback, paperback or Kindle.
It’s rare. Or practically never that I get my highlighter out. I just don’t normally mark up my books. Or turn down pages. The Good Book is different. I couldn’t help but grab my highlighter. It’s that good. Taking 40 chapters of the Bible and breaking them down and revealing God's truth and God’s love in a way that makes the Bible more readable than ever before. I would recommend this amazing book for anyone. A mature reader/believer will uncover and discover a newer and challenging understanding of God's promises. A younger or new believer or seeker will be drawn in; quite possible for the first time and feel God’s love and presence. I recommend The Good Book for everyone.
Worship Servants Training on October 15
Those wanting to serve as a liturgist or communion server are asked to attend a short training at 7 p.m. Monday, October 15. This will help participants feel comfortable in their roles and ensure uniformity. A light dinner will be provided. Email Claudia Rose, claudiamaryrose@gmail.com, to indicate your attendance.
Women’s SHINE Event Registration
Join the women of the church for a SHINE event at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, October 20, at Custer Road UMC in Plano for worship, learning, and fellowship. SHINE welcomes Rebecca Carrell, the morning show co-host of KCBI, for desserts, coffee and “A Fresh Look at a Timeless Word.” Cost is $10 per person. Register online.
