Seniors:
There’s still time to complete the FAFSA. If you are going on to any kind of schooling...Career-Technical, 2-year, 4-year, cosmetology, etc. you should complete the FAFSA.
The FAFSA is available at www.fafsa.gov. If you would like help completing it, contact Mrs. Cupps to set up an appointment!

Boise State and Idaho State have priority scholarship deadlines of February 15. Applications, transcripts with test scores and FAFSA need to be submitted.
LCSC has a March 1 deadline and CWI is March 31.
Please check your colleges to find what their scholarship deadline is!
There are plenty of scholarships available on the Naviance website...92 of them right now. Two are Capital High students only scholarships...the Capital High Heritage Scholarship and the Walter & Lillie Steele Scholarship.
Any student who has a 2.75 unweighted GPA and is planning on going to and Idaho college/university should also do the Idaho Opportunity Scholarship.

Have you received any scholarship awards!? Make a copy of the award and bring it into Mrs. Cupps; scanned copies are welcomed. This would be ALL scholarships you have been awarded whether you have decided to accept them or not. These scholarships will be placed in the graduation program.

Juniors:
The SAT is coming! The Idaho School Day SAT is April 9. All juniors will be taking the exam as part of their graduation requirement and as an OFFICIAL SAT!
Students can prepare for the SAT by linking their PSAT scores in the Collegeboard account to Khan Academy which is the best way to prepare for the SAT. It looks at the student’s PSAT score and determines where the student needs help.
More information will be coming soon!
College-bound juniors are encouraged to not only take the SAT but also the ACT. Juniors need to register for the ACT on their own by going to www.actstudent.org where they will create an account and register for the test. Fee waivers are available for families who qualify free/reduced lunches. The waivers can be picked up in the Career Center.
Students can re-take either test in the Fall of the senior year, to be completed by December 2019 for application and scholarship purposes.
Mark your calendars...Sophomore & Junior College Information Night will be held Monday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m. The focus will be on Juniors but I encourage sophomores and parents to attend.
Agenda items include: SAT/ACT testing, college selection, the application process, financial aid/scholarships.
Higher Education Day for Juniors at Capital will be February 27. During 3rd and 4th hour, all juniors will have the opportunity to visit with 3 Idaho colleges/universities to learn more about their programs. More information will be given to juniors as we draw closer to the day.
Sophomores:
Sophomores and parents are welcome to the College Information Night on March 11. See the above information.
I encourage sophomores to link their PSAT scores to Khan Academy in their Collegeboard account to help them prepare for the next PSAT in October of the next school year.

Parents and Students will no longer be able to drop off/pickup students at the front of the School, due to continued issues with buses not being able to gain access to the bus pickup/drop off zone..
