From Amy:
Hi everyone,
While we are still waiting on direction from the district (hopefully coming tomorrow), we thought we'd give you some things to think about. It's an uneasy feeling with all of this uncertainty so we're going to empower you to start thinking ahead.
I started a Google Classroom page where she'll post some professional development and create a forum for us to discuss. Please go in using code: yl7ehlv She posted an article that might help you wrap your brain around online school. There are some good tips for us to start thinking about.
If you've never used Google Classroom before, it's very easy. Here are directions on accessing Amy's classroom page. You are the student in the classroom: https://support.google.com/edu/classroom/answer/6020297?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en
Join a class as a student - Computer - Classroom Help
At the top, click Add Join class.. Enter the class code your teacher gave you and click Join. A class code consists of 6 or 7 letters or numbers. For example, hjhmgrk or g5gdp1.
support.google.com
I think if you create your own teacher acct, you can also access other pages just by entering the code. The link to Google Classrooms is also on the search page in the 9 box drop down menu..
.
Also, with time on our hands, your team can "meet" and do some unit work. Unit 5 still needs some work and so does Unit 6. Everything is updated in Unit 6 from our extended planning and thanks to Beth, the TEKS documents are too. The admin team has been playing around with Zoom. It's pretty cool and could be a great video conferencing tool to use with your team for now. Check it out.
Once we get info from the district, admin will meet and roll out a plan for you to get started...assuming this is the route they decide to go. Stay posted!

ARDs and 504s
SPED/ARDS: More guidance will be coming in the daily update on Wednesday, March 17. Currently, with schools closing, there is not an obligation to hold ARDS this week. If you choose to continue with an ARD meeting, efforts must be made to do this virtually with the parents--they should not come to the building. All parties (parents and staff) must be able to access the meeting. Only essential staff should come to the campus to participate in the virtual ARD meeting. This also includes 504 meetings.

From the OLC
You are receiving this e-mail because you have a Holifield Science Learning Center animal checked out in your name.
In light of current events and in order to plan for all possible needs of our animal population, we require some information about your classroom critter’s current location and condition.
Please use this link to provide us with some information about your animal.
Animals that are being housed on your campus will be collected and returned to the HSLC by our Animal Care Staff. You do not need to go to campus to pick up your animal.
If your animal is currently receiving care from you at your home, please maintain its needs as best you can during this time. If you are in need of supplies for your animal, you can email Elisa.Caywood@pisd.edu or Sarah.close@pisd.edu for information about receiving supplies.
Thank you,
