Meet Our Admin Team 2022-2023

WELCOME BULLDOGS & BULLDOG FAMILIES! 🐾

On behalf of the entire Bellerose school community, I extend a warm welcome to our new and returning Bulldogs and Bulldog families for the 2022/2023 school year. I am also excited beyond words to be joining the Bellerose community myself this year. The lure of Bellerose is the same for all of us: the opportunity to be part of this school that is steeped in a culture of community and belonging - a school that creates spaces for everyone to find their place, to grow, and to contribute. We look forward to walking this journey together and working in partnership.

School Supply Lists

As every student’s timetable is unique, school supply lists are not issued for high school students. Students should bring paper and pens for the first day of classes and will be given information regarding necessary items from course teachers on the first day of classes.

School Photos & Student ID Cards

ICON photography will be on-site from Wednesday, August 31st to Friday, September 2nd, for student school photos. All students are required to have a school photo taken for ID purposes, and Student ID Cards will be issued on-site during this time. Student ID is required to sign out both library books and textbooks during the school year. When the ID is received, we encourage students to take a photo on their device as a backup copy in case the original is misplaced or lost.

Scan the QR code to apply for a locker or visit the link in your grade level google classroom (available in September).

  • Once a locker has been assigned, the locker number and combination code will be available on the PowerSchool Student Portal. Please allow 1-2 school days before this information will be available.

  • PLEASE NOTE *** you can not view through the app. You must log into your portal through the website.

Students are reminded that lockers are school property and must be used appropriately.

Student Parking Pass Information

Parking pass applications will be available online through the PowerSchool Parent Portal after the Grade-level assemblies on September 1st. Applicants can expect to have their pass issued to them by September 15th. Students can park in the lot without a pass up until passes are issued. Effective September 15th, only those students with a valid parking pass will be permitted to park in the student parking lot.

The parking lot is monitored by Bylaw Enforcement so those vehicles without a parking pass after September 15th will be at risk of a parking ticket.

Students are expected to maintain safe and appropriate judgement when using the parking lot. Inappropriate use or inappropriate behaviour in parking areas will be reported to the RCMP, and may result in the removal of your parking pass. Please note that student vehicles are parked at YOUR OWN RISK.

2022-2023 Timetables

If you were unable to attend the previously scheduled dates for timetable changes, please arrange to meet with our Student Services team.

GRADE 10 STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE A FULL 40 CREDIT TIMETABLE. IF YOU SEE A BLANK SPACE IN A GRADE 10 TIMETABLE, THE STUDENT MUST GO TO THE STUDENT CENTRE (ROOM 133/134), ON ONE OF THE DATES INDICATED BELOW, TO SEE WHAT CLASSES ARE AVAILABLE TO COMPLETE THE TIMETABLE.

Course Change Requests are available by appointment through our online booking system, calendly:

A - L Last Names - Mrs. Kelly Lajoie

M - Z Last Names - Mr. Jeff Beaton

IB Programme via clayton.wowk@spschools.org

ALL COURSE CHANGES FOR SEMESTER 1 NEED TO BE COMPLETED BEFORE FRIDAY, SEPT. 2nd. COURSE CHANGES AFTER THIS DATE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO BE ACCOMODATED.

In September, your timetable may change even if you did not request a change. If this is the case, you should find that the courses are the same, but where they are placed on your schedule is different. These changes are a result of the need to balance class sizes, changes to teaching assignments or the addition of sections of a course to the school schedule.

Student Attendance

Regular attendance is vital to a student's academic success and is a key factor in a students ability to have strong connection to all aspects of classroom and school learning. This is particularly important in the fast paced semesters of high school.

If you know that your student will be late or absence from class, we ask that you notify the school with a brief message at br.absences@spschools.org or 780.460.8490

For any absences that are unexcused, an automated phone system contacts the home between 4-9pm when a student has missed a class. If you are unaware of the absence, you are encouraged to speak to your student and contact the school if you require follow up action.

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Marks

Students will be able to access final marks through Alberta Education’s system called myPass. Here you will be able to view marks, track graduation progress and order transcripts. Students can sign themselves up at myPass. (If you need to look up your ASN, click here.)

______________________________________________________________________________________________

Changes of Demographics

If you or your student change phone number, address, email address, etc., please contact the school at bellerose@spschools.org to update your information.

______________________________________________________________________________________________

School Fees

School fees will be posted to your student’s account starting in October. Parents will be able to view and pay school fees on the PowerSchool ParentPortal.

Insurance & Waiver Forms

Staff members/coaches are required by District Policy to have Waiver Forms completed and signed for student activities/athletics. From time to time, please expect that your son/daughter will require a waiver form be signed and returned to the school to allow participation in an activity/event. Your cooperation is appreciated in ensuring that waiver forms are returned as quickly as possible. It is also recommended by the district that students carry Student Accident Insurance, particularly if the student is involved in activities and athletics. INDUSTRIAL ALLIANCE PACIFIC INSURANCE FORMS can be found and applied for online.
