MISSION: IGNITING A PASSION FOR LEARNING
Message from the Principal
Greetings,
It is hard to believe that we are approaching the end of the first trimester! It is a great time to log onto Family Access and locate your child's grades and do a quick review to see if you have any concerns. If you did not get a chance to meet with your child's teachers during conferences, you can always reach out to have a conversation with them. I have included some tutorial videos for Skyward below.
Messages:
If you need to get a message to your child during the school day, please contact Holly Reindl at 262.626.3104 ext. 2101. The end of the day can get quite busy, we appreciate all messages to the office no later than 1:00 pm.
Student Absences:
Please have your absences/appointments called in by 8:00 AM. You can leave a message anytime on the school's voicemail, 262.626.3104 ext. 2101. You can also enter appointments and absences on Skyward. It is always recommended that you obtain a medical excuse for appointments.
FastBridge:
Your child's Fall FastBridge score has now been uploaded into Skyward. Another great reason to make sure you are logging in and checking out everything Skyward has to offer! If you have a concern about your child's score please contact your child's Math or Language Arts teacher.
Recess:
Just like in elementary school, we go outside every day. Please encourage your child to bring the appropriate outdoor clothing to school to wear during recess.
Breakfast:
Don't forget that KMS serves breakfast every morning! Please consider taking advantage of this fantastic opportunity our food service team offers! It is a great way for your middle schooler to fuel up for the start of the day!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Student Services Updates
We just wrapped up Red Ribbon Week at KMS. During this time students learned about the effects of substance abuse in the daily announcements. They had the opportunity to sign a pledge to be drug-free and bring awareness by dressing up throughout the week. Thank you to our Student Government students and leaders for their efforts in making this a successful week!
In the 6th and 7th-grade classrooms, students learned about bullying and school culture. Students were already familiar with bullying, but “school culture” was new for many. We talked about how school culture affects the mood and energy of the school and ways we can all improve the school culture each day by doing small, positive actions like smiling or saying hello. We also discussed ways to respond to a bullying or teasing situation. Students wrote their ideas cards that will be displayed in the building.
Lastly, our pupil services team has been working diligently to provide resources to families for mental health. You have likely seen invitations to our Healthy Families meetings and Counseling Corner events. I invite you to participate in these events as they come up throughout the year. The next Counseling Corner is scheduled for November 17 and it is a virtual event to make it easier to participate. In addition, we have many mental health resources on the Kewaskum School District webpage at this link mental health resources.
