Wrangler Weekly
Week of August 29, 2022
Message from Ms. Bratton, principal
Thank you so much for your help in making this a great first week for our students. We have seen lots of laughter and engagement between students and staff.
Our students are doing a great job of getting to class on time and following expectations, including leaving their cell phones in their backpacks during the day. One eighth grade student even shared with their teacher that "lunch hasn't been this fun since elementary school."
We know the district phone policy is hard for some students, but they have done a GREAT job. Our teachers and staff are so proud of them.
Please take some time this weekend to help your student, if needed, to organize their backpack and be ready for Monday. Students likely received a lot of information this week as their teachers established procedures and curriculum overviews. Some may need help ensuring it's all in the right spot.
If you have questions about a class, reach out to the teacher, they are ALL IN to help your student have a successful year.
Go Wranglers!
Ms. Bratton
SBMS Hallway Heroes Kickoff
Volunteers are essential at SBMS!
We are looking for Hallway Heroes...parents and guardians who can spend some time up at the school helping with activities such as traffic duty, checking for ID badges, assisting with Physical Education, checking door security inside and outside the building and mentoring students by reading with them or playing math games.
There is a meeting/orientation coming up next week that will give you all the information you need to sign-up: Tuesday, August 30th, 7:30am at SBMS.
Time commitment is your decision; half a day, a whole day, or a partial day. All participation is valued and appreciated. Please share this with your family members who may be interested. And as always, your volunteer background check must be on file for the current school year. The background check may take a few weeks to come back, so please plan accordingly
Thank you, we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday!

Dress Code 2022-2023 Updates
We have only had a few struggles with dress code this week.
Students at SBMS will be given the opportunity to fix the problem if they are out of dress code.
Main Issues we have been addressing:
* tummy needs to be fully covered
* no holes in jeans or shorts above knees
* shorts need to be at least mid-thigh -- no shorter than fingertip length
Parents, thank you again for your help with this.
IDs Required Daily
Must be worn around the neck and visible at all times
Temporary IDs are available before school in the cafeteria if a students forgets to bring After 10th time… lunch detention.
Help your student create a “habit” for where the ID goes at the end of each day.
Lost it?
$5 purchase a reprint.
$2 lanyard
(students can wear any school-appropriate lanyard -- great way to let them accessorize!)
