COUNSELORS CORNER
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD or IDPwD) was established in 1992 by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly to increase understanding and awareness of disability issues and the abilities of people with disabilities; promote the full and effective participation in society for the dignity, rights and well-being of people with disabilities; and celebrate the achievements and contributions of people with disabilities.
It is observed worldwide on December 3 each year.
Over one billion people, or approximately 15 percent of the world’s population, live with some form of disability and face barriers to inclusion in many key aspects of society.
Around the world, physical, social, economic and attitudinal barriers prevent people with disabilities face from participating fully and effectively as equal members of society. They are disproportionately represented among the world’s poorest individuals. People with disabilities lack equal access to basic resources, such as education, employment, healthcare and social and legal support systems. They also have a higher rate of mortality. Yet disability as a whole has remained largely invisible in the mainstream development agenda and its processes. Kindness and Gratitude Poster Contest
We mentioned previously that students had the opportunity to participate in a Kindness/Gratitude Poster Contest. Students were encouraged to create a poster about what they are thankful for or what brings joy and gratitude to their life. They had the option to create a drawing, write a poem/song, or be creative in their own way!
The winning designs will receive a VIP lunch in the 5th and 6th grade office with 4 friends after Thanksgiving break!

NOVI EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION
The Novi Educational has been able to do so many great things in 2022 for our students and teachers. Outdoor learning spaces, teacher grants and student scholarships all because of YOU!
This school year the NEF received a record $84,000 in grant applications. We have been fortunate to fund $42,500 of those grants and with your help, we can make the rest a reality!
Last Thursday was a day of thanks and today, Giving Tuesday, is a great opportunity to give back and double your impact. For Giving Tuesday Community Financial Credit Union has generously donated a $4,500 matching grant. If you donate $25 it turns into $50, a $50 donation becomes $100....
MAKE AN IMPACT TODAY by donating at www.novieducationalfoundation.org/giving-tuesday. Or simply text GIVINGTUESDAYNEF22 to 44321.
When our community acts with generosity and a collective spirit, the difference we make can make all the difference!
