Macbeth Act 5 Scene 1
1971 Roman Polanski vs. 1979 Trevor Nunn
The Play vs. The Films
To me I would say that the version of "Macbeth" movie from 1971 was more accurate to the details in the book. I say this because as you read the book it has of a heroic theme to it and from the little parts that I seen from the Polanski movie that does that as well. Also, I like the 1971 version most due to it giving me a better understanding of the book and additionally giving me a visual of how the paly may have been in person.
Crazy Lady
One comparison I noticed betweent the two versions was that they both showed how paranoid and crazy acting Lady Macbth was. This was significant to me because that was also shown in the book and the two movie versions gave me a better visual of how she really acted.
Pure Darkness
Also, another comparison I noticed from both versions was that they both had dark scenery. This was imporant due to them wanting to show her sign of having a more downish mood and not being too pleased with herself.
Scary Cat
A diffence I noticed between the two movies were the mood set through out the scene. In the 1971 version she was acting more weird than anything. But, in the 1979 version she was crying like a little girl. I think they made this difference to show the more intense, killer side of Lady Macbeth but, then Trevor Nunn had to show that more sensative, caring side of her because everyone has a heart at the end of the day!
