Happy New Year!

I hope that you all enjoyed your Winter Break and were able to spend time with your family and friends. I had a great time with our highlight playing Speak Out on Christmas Eve as a family. My belly still hurts from laughing so much. When we returned to school on Monday, it was as if we hadn't been gone for 10 days. The students and staff went right back to learning and it was great getting into classrooms to take part in the learning. I got to read a little bit, too. I also gave the students a challenge- come up with one word to focus on for the rest of the school year. We're part of the #oneword2017 challenge with educators from around the world. My one word is Priorities. What is yours?

Grant from Meemic

Meemic, an insurance company just for educators, has a grant program to support schools. If you have the time and care to do so, here is a link for a chance at a $500 grant for supplies for our schools.

Thanks for your consideration.

MAPs testing starts next week

Our Winter MAPs testing will start up next week. The students will be testing in their Math or LA classes, depending on the tests. Here are the dates of testing.

  • Wednesday, January 11th- 5th grade Reading, 6th grade Math, and 7th/8th grade Math
  • Thursday, January 12th- 5th grade Math and 6th grade Reading
  • Tuesday, January 17th- 7th/8th grade Reading

If students are absent on the date of their testing, makeup time will be organized.

Group pictures for the yearbook

On Tuesday, January 10th, group pictures will be taken for our yearbook. There is no need for uniforms or special attire for these pictures. Spring sports and activities will have their pictures taken later this year.

PTO Family Bowling- Sunday, January 29th

On Sunday, January 29th (there is no Packer game), the PTO is hosting Family Bowling at Sussex Bowl. There are a variety of time slots available as well as raffles. Please click on this link for more information. We hope to see you there!

Half day January 19th and no school January 20th

This is just a reminder that we have a half day with a noon release, and no lunch, on Thursday, January 19th. There is also no school on Friday, January 20th as we end our 1st semester of school for 7th and 8th graders. We're almost half way through the school year!
