We Are Together Tamanend!
August 25, 2017

7th Grade Open House
On Thursday, August 24th, we welcomed 7th graders and their parents/guardians to pick up their schedules, find their classes, open their lockers (many successful times) and get to know some great Tamanend Freshmen who served as tour guides and helpers. Pictured above, students, parents and teachers take a moment to "leave their mark" on the interactive Tamanend banner created by NJHS students this summer (pictured below right: Audrey J., Jane M., Grace V., Maggie R., Chryssa P., Haley S., Yvonne X., and Alison F.)
Any schedules not picked up today will be mailed home. All students' schedules are available on the student/parent/guardian portal as of 4 p.m. on August 24th.

Who Wants to be Linked in Unity?!
Throughout the year, and especially in Tiger's Eye, we support our students as they learn to find their voice and "stand up" for themselves and others. Once our students leave Tamanend and go on to CB South High School, building student advocacy is continued and broadened through a program called "First LINK." As a part of LINK's service outreach, those South students work with our Tamanend students to foster community building and servant leadership. We call this "Link to Unity" or L2U for short.
We will have our first L2U on Saturday, November 11th for all interested 8th and 9th graders who have not been linked before. To receive an invitation to L2U, students (or parents, guardians, teachers) need to fill out a quick nomination form. We will send invitations based on nominations in late October. That means we need nominations by October 20. Students who return the signed permission form first will be the ones who are admitted to L2U.
L2U starts at 8:30 and ends at 11 a.m. Being that it is an action and learning packed two-and-a half hours, students must commit to attending the entire session (no leaving early). Participation is free and student participants get a L2U t-shirt at the end.
Nominate Yourself or Others If you know someone who should be invited to L2U, or if you know you want to be invited, use the QR Code above to complete the L2U Invitation Request. | | Be a L2U Jr Leader If you have already participated in L2U and would like to become a Jr Leader that helps the CB South Link Leaders during L2U, use the QR Code above to apply. Deadline for applications TBD. |

Student Emergency Contact & Information
Each year, the Central Bucks School District asks our families to fill out a Student Emergency & Information Form. Parents/Guardians can take care of this now and we ask that you complete your family’s Student Emergency & Information Form online by September 20, 2017. For more information, see our Aug 5th Tamanend Together newsletter.
Student Car Rider Drop Off/Pick Up Pattern
It is highly recommended that parents/guardians of students who walk or take the bus have their students walk or take the bus. On days, when students need extra help getting to school, please consider driving them to their assigned bus stop and wait together in the car until the bus arrives. A student will never be marked tardy if they arrive by bus.
If parents/guardians decide to drive students to school, please plan enough travel time to allow for safety and congestion on Stuckert Road and in our school parking lot. The speed limit in our lot is 15 mph.
The following is a mapping of how the student drop-off works in our parking lot. Drop off should only happen along the sidewalk indicated by paw prints on the map. For your safety and the safety of our students, please follow these directions and do not drop your student off on Stuckert Road, the Visitor's Parking area, or in the middle of the Main Parking Area. Thank you for your support and careful driving.

Tamanend Dances Tamanend dances are for currently enrolled and attending Tamanend students ONLY. Bringing or inviting “guests” to any of our school dances at Tamanend is prohibited. For all dances, students need to show their current Tamanend Middle School I.D. as part of admittance. In order to participate in any after-school event, including dances, a student must have arrived to school no later than 10:30 a.m. on that day. Dress for the Fall Dance on October 6th is casual. Dress standards apply. The Dance starts at 7:30 and ends at 9:20 for 7th grade, 9:30 for 8th grade, and 9:40 for 9th grade. | Winter Dance & Dance Pick up The Tamanend Winter Dance is a more dressy, but not formal, dance. It starts at 7:30 p.m. The dance is over at 9:30 p.m. The dance is planned for December 1 with a weather backup date of December 8. For all dances, we ask that those families driving to Tamanend from the direction of Kelly Road, please drop off and pick up in the bus loop. Those families that approach Tamanend from the Bristol Road direction, please drop off and pick up using the main lot (by the tennis courts). Following this traffic pattern will alleviate some congestion on Stuckert Road and keep traffic moving smoothly. | Freshman Day & Dance Freshman Day and Dance are tentatively slated for June 8th, 2018. These events are only for currently enrolled ninth grade Tamanend students as they are a special time set aside for our Freshmen to enjoy a final remembrance of their middle school years. While our Freshman Dance is truly special, there is plenty of time in our students' lives for prom dresses, tuxedos, limos, and fancy proposals for dates. Whether students arrive at the dance in groups, by themselves, or in pairs, they all experience a wonderful time. Please remind your child of this fact when discussion of Freshman Day begins. |
