September 9th
Dear JE community,
I am so proud of our students for coming in the building every morning on time and ready for school. Our attendance has been great in our first 6 days of school, which has allowed us to build a strong foundation in classrooms for learning. I look forward to continued excellent attendance to support the consistency of learning across academic areas as our standards progressively build.
We look forward to welcoming you all back inside our building for Back to School Night--which is on September 14th: K-2 will be held from 5:30-6:15 and 3-5 will be held between 6:15-7:30. Our specialists (Library, PE, Music and Art) will be in their rooms between 6:00 and 6:45. This event is geared towards our adults. You will learn about our student's day, the curriculum and meet their teachers. In the Spring, at our Open House, our students will welcome you to their classrooms and show you all of their wonderful work. As a reminder, Wednesday is a 12:45 dismissal and students will be dismissed on Friday at 2:45.
Additionally, please find us on Facebook at Joshua Eaton Elementary School and take a look at our new district website!
Enjoy your weekend!

PTO's Corner
PTO NEWS:
We hope everyone had a great first week. We are really looking forward to getting to see everyone at the Back to School Curriculum Night on 9/14. The first general PTO meeting will be in the cafeteria immediately following the classroom presentations.
Please Volunteer: The PTO could use YOUR support this year! The success of PTO organized events depends on the JE community’s generous donations of time and talent. Every PTO activity is driven by volunteers, both visible and behind the scenes. We appreciate any support you can provide, from a few hours to a leadership role. Plus, it’s a great way to get involved with your child’s school, meet new people and have fun!
>>By 9/23 Fill out the Volunteer SOS form (Support Our School) to let us know where you can help. The form has gone paperless this year so please use this link for each adult/caregiver who can help: https://forms.gle/j3ycHqUgBm2dpAnb7
Back-to-School Family Picnic & Book Donation:
The Back to School Family Picnic is on Tuesday 9/20 from 5:30-7:00 (rain date 9/21). Bring your own picnic blanket and dinner and have fun socializing with other families on the JE field. As always, slush will be served and the Scholastic Book Fair will be open in the library.
**If you want to bring a take-out dinner, Cal’s Brick Oven Pizza Company will donate 20% of Joshua Eaton sales between 4:30-7:30 that day –Just let them know you are ordering for JE! https://calsbrickoven.com/
The PTO is collecting new and gently used children’s books to be donated to the Mission of Deeds again this year. Please consider bringing a book or two to the Back-to-School Family Picnic to donate. Books may be in English or Spanish and appropriate for children ages infant to middle school. The collection bin will be near the slush table. Thank you in advance for your contributions!
Teacher/Staff Appreciation: Thank you to our PTO Teacher Appreciation Chairs, Brenna Westover and Julie Irwin, for putting together another wonderful “welcome back” spread for the teachers and staff this year. Also thanks for organizing the chalk the walk messages outside of the school!

Please take a look at the attached document detailing our “Found Family” Program. What does Found Family mean? “A group of people who find themselves united in a family-bond based on shared experiences, mutual understanding, and interpersonal connection. Found Family is not biological but found when placed in a new place.”
