Important Update from Dr. Campbell
Friday, March 19, 2021
Dear Plymouth Families,
During the March 15th School Committee meeting, a vote was taken to support the administration's recommendation to return students in grades 6-8 to a full-time model of in-person instruction. Students will begin returning to school five days a week as of April 12th. In the coming weeks, our buildings will be preparing our facilities for this transition. We look forward to welcoming our grade 6-8 students back full-time and continue our commitment to providing safe, healthy and supportive classrooms for our students and teachers.
As we welcome students back full-time into the classroom, we wanted to bring to your attention that in the recently released Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Guidance on In-Person Learning and Student Learning Time Requirements, DESE updated the face mask guidance to require masks at all grade levels effective immediately. Gaiters will no longer be permitted as a student’s sole mask, however, students will be allowed to wear gaiters over a properly fitted mask. According to the CDC and other health experts, mask wearing has proven to be the most effective mitigation against virus transmission. With students now in closer proximity to one another, we feel this measure will continue to support the success we have had in keeping transmission low throughout our schools. If families need assistance acquiring a properly-fitted mask, our schools have plenty of child-sized masks available.
In the coming days, your student’s principal will be reaching out to you to communicate specific logistics that may be unique for your school. Staff are in place to assist students with this transition back to school. Please reach out to school administration with any specific questions or concerns you may have.
I want to thank you for your continued patience and support. As always, if you have any questions at any time, please feel free to reach out to me or your school administration.
Sincerely,
Christopher S. Campbell, Ed.D.
