An Announcement from your School
Dear Parents,
We hope you and your child(ren) are doing well. On Monday, March 30, Ohio Governor has extended the school closure until May 1. They will reevaluate school closure before May 1.Due to the ongoing closure and recommendations from ODE, we have been doing a virtual learning environment since Wednesday, 3/25. Teachers are using Google classroom and student assigned emails to provide an educational opportunity.
If your student needs to check out a Chromebook, please contact the school between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm on Monday, April 6 through Thursday, April 9. You will be able to pick up the Chromebook the following day within the office hours. A legal guardian must be present to check out for the Chromebook being loaned.
Students must use their school email account to reach out to Google classroom. Teachers will post a video on Mondays, which is about the instruction of the week. Teachers will continue posting assignments throughout the week. Every student will have approximately three-hour work daily. On Fridays, Teachers will have a live session for their students. The live session date and time may vary due to teachers' availability. Please reach out to teachers via email. You can find teachers' emails in Concept SIS which you can access through https://grades.ms.horizoncolumbus.org. You can call our office if you don't have the user and password. or email us ms.info@horizoncolumbus.org
If you have any questions, please call the school office at 614 428 6564 or email ms.info@horizoncolumbus.org.

Dr. Raschke gets Creative in Google Classroom
Online classes have been a learning experience for everyone including our teachers. Dr. Raschke, our 7th grade Social Studies teacher, had some fun with one of her Google Classroom assignments last week. Its main purpose was to help students get familiar with the platform. She asked them to watch one of the Cincinnati Zoo's videos posted on Youtube from their daily Facebook Live sessions, they had the one about Rico the porcupine. The task was to make their own porcupine. They could draw or they could make it out of random materials found around the house. Here are just a few of them. Some students were super resourceful in what they used to create their porcupine. Enjoy!
Cincinnati Zoo features a different animal every every weekday at 3pm on their Facebook Live and then later posts a YouTube video recording of it on their website.
CYSP Update
Due to the current changes and growing concerns over the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to keep you posted on adjusted CYSP requirements.
1. Students are now given the option of completing some of their requirements on online platforms such as Google classroom, Zoom, WhatsApp, facetime, phone call and etc... with their advisor. Please encourage them to complete some of the CYSP requirements. Here are the online options you can do at home with your scholars.
In town trip
Virtual Museum visits. (Students are required to write and submit a reflection after the visit)
Parent Engagement
A phone call or any online conference on CYSP Progress monitoring items.
Digital Home visit

2. Since we may lose 20 percent of school-days, we made adjustments in bronze requirements and silver and gold points. Please see the chart showing the new CYSP requirements. (Attached)
3. Bonus Activity adjustment: If a student attends a virtual regional, national or international and Concept Schools competition, then the student can get 100 points. (robotics, science fairs, math, technology, Concept Schools competitions)

Thank you,
Mr. Toprak
