Principal's Message
Fall is finally here. What a first month of the year! Our first STAR Scholarship Night was a huge success, thank you again to all of the parents and teachers that help make that night a huge success. And while it was a rainy day, our dedication ceremony was a great reason to be inside celebrating. Finally, Homecoming 2019 has come and gone. Thanks for a fun spirit-filled week!
We have several PTO events this month and could used your help. The book fair, helping with a meal for teachers during conferences, and our dance at the end of the month are activities all in need of volunteers. You can find links below for the book fair and the dinner sign-ups. Thank you for your continued support!
Paws Up,
Mr. Schreiber

Counselor's Corner - October 2019
Hi! I’m the counselor at Greenland and Meadow View schools! Your children who are in 5 year old kindergarten through 4th grade get to see me in their classrooms for a half hour every other week. Maybe you’ve already heard about some of the things we have been talking about…if not, I want to fill you in!
We started off this year by reading a book called All Are Welcome. We talked about differences people have and that despite our many differences, we are all welcome at our school and in our classrooms. We talked about welcoming words and actions and even how we can give welcoming looks toward others. Some classes got to make bookmarks with welcoming reminders on them!
The next lesson had to do with safety and some of our important school policies. We discussed the district policies on weapons, harassment, bullying, and the use of the buddy bench on the playground.
Our next several lessons will be centered on the brain. Basic brain parts and processes are explored. In the younger grades we talk about how we can change our thinking and be more mindful in our learning. The older students will hopefully get a better understanding of how our brains work and how they can improve in different areas. Growth mindset and thinking about our thinking (metacognition) are the basis of the exploring we do in this unit.
Please let me know if you have any questions but the classroom guidance.
Sincerely, Sarah Howells, School Counselor
