Spelling Bee Canceled in 2021

Unfortunately, we will not be having a spelling bee this school year. We hope that we are able to have it the following school year!

COVID Quarantine Clarifications

For students who are considered a close contact to a positive case outside of the home, the timeline is:

  • Quarantine for 10 days from the last day of exposure, with students eligible to return on the 11th day if symptom-free for the previous 24 hours.

  • Testing is recommended but not required. Students cannot return earlier with a negative test. If any symptoms develop during the quarantine period testing is highly recommended. Please report any symptoms or positive test results during quarantine to the school.

If the positive close contact is a family member within the household, the return date is generally 24 days. This will be determined on a case by case basis based on the last date of close contact and the ability to quarantine separately within the house.

There is a link on the district home page with COVID-19 information.

Your child is going to be absent?

Please either call the office (309-243-7774) OR email Mrs. Barber at lbarber@dunlapcusd.net by 8:15 AM at the latest if your child is going to be absent. Thank you for your help with this!

Niche 2020 Rankings

Much like sports teams are ranked, schools are also ranked by varying organizations. Niche is one such ranking service. The Dunlap elementary schools were ranked 53, 73, 106, 109, and 141 respectively with Banner being the 106th ranked school out of over 2,200 schools in the state (within the top 5%). In the overall picture of what we do, we don't put a great deal of stock into these scores. However, it gives me a chance to compliment our staff, students, and families for fostering a positive environment where students are cared for academically as well as emotionally. I wanted to share this with you more as a thank you for all you do to support our students and our school. For more information on these rankings, you can go to the Niche website.

Early Entrance to First Grade applies to students who will not by six-years-old by September 1 but will be before December 31 and have attended a private kindergarten program outside of the district. If any of these conditions apply to your student, more information and the sign-up link can be found here on the district website.
