The Manning Weekly Update
September 24, 2023

Dear Manning Families,
This week, we have our first parent partnership meeting of the year on Thursday, September 28th beginning at 5pm in the library. You can find the agenda for our upcoming meeting HERE. If you have any questions you’d like to share in advance, you can share them via THIS FORM. This is an opportunity to get involved in how our school operates and to advise me around your ideas and priorities in support of our students and greater Manning community. We are also looking for parent membership for our school accountability committee as well. I hope to see you there, and feel free to reach out with any questions!
As you may know, our school receives funding each year based on our October count. One way to help our school ensure that we receive the appropriate funding is to be sure your student is in attendance during the October count window. This year, the window runs September 25th through October 9th, with our most important day being October 2nd. If your student is going to be out anytime, including during this window, it is important to call our attendance line to excuse their absence. Thanks, in advance, for your support.
A few important updates/reminders:
- Fall Fest - If you haven’t already, please RSVP for our upcoming Fall Fest on Friday, October 6th from 6-10pm. Look for more information below!

Manning Fall Fest - Silent Auction & Chili Cook off!
Dear Manning parents and community:
This year’s Manning Fall Fest, which includes a Chili Cook Off and a Silent Auction, will be held on Friday October 6th. This evening of fun and community spirit is the PTA’s largest fundraising event of the year. Fundraising from last year’s Fall Festival enabled the PTA to fulfill our amazing teacher's wish lists, purchase new security cameras, provide college scholarships to Manning alumni students, and fund memorable 8th grade continuation ceremonies and picnics. The success of the event depends on the generous tax-deductible donations of our Manning families and community. Please think about how you might help, as you ponder your resources, talents, hobbies, and abilities!
Donating is easy, just complete the Auction Donation Form and deliver the items to the school by September 22nd.
We thank you in advance for your time, consideration and generosity in supporting our school. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
Tickets are available now until 9/15 and cost $20 each. After the 15th the cost will be $25
Do you have an award-worthy chili recipe?

In Person Only: Families are welcome to drop in anytime between 4:00 - 7:00pm. No appointment required. Students are not required to attend but are welcome to join with their parents. Please note that the last conference will be held at 6:50p.m., so please plan ahead and get here earlier in the evening. Conferences will be held in teacher classrooms, and each meeting will take 8 minutes. We ask that you patiently wait outside each teacher's classroom until the family before you are finished. Teachers will be timing each meeting.
Pop-Up Book Fair: Our PTA is also hosting a Pop-Up Book Fair from Second Star to the Right, in the Manning Cafeteria this evening while parents/students are in the building. You can start ordering books NOW, and anything purchased prior to 10/12 can be ready for pick up during conferences!

Friday, October 13th - 9:00 - 2:30pm
Appointment only, by parent or teacher request: Teachers will be reaching out to families by Friday, September 29th with an email explaining the process. Parents are able to request a meeting as well via email to a teacher, the teacher will then respond with a sign-up genius link. We will have 10 minutes for each conference, as we are trying to touch base with as many families as possible during the conference day.
Please see Here for All Teacher/Staff Contact information
Please continue to monitor your students' attendance and grades in Campus and if you have any questions, please feel free to email your students' teacher or counselor.

Manning Parents,
Our original picture retake was this last Wednesday, and we unfortunately did not get all students photographed.
We will have the remainder of students (Last Names M-Z), picture retakes on Friday, October 6th from 7:30am-11am. Students can arrive early that day to get pictures taken before class begins.
We are sorry for any inconvenience.

It’s official – October Count Day this year is Monday, October 2.
The most important action you can take to support school funding is to make sure your student attends school on that day. Much of public education funding from the State of Colorado is based on student count, so we encourage you to make sure your student comes to school that day.
The “count window” the state observes is from Monday, September 25 through Monday, October 9, but the most important student count day is Monday, October 2. Help us get an accurate count by having your student participate in learning that day.
If your student will be absent on Monday, October 2 due to illness, please call our attendance line, 303-982-6340 to report the absence. Attendance during the “count window” will help counteract an absence on Monday, October 2.
Thank you for your support. Every student counts!
