Student Spotlight: Lucy Graham

Meet Lucy! When she's not amazing us with her own dancing, Lucy is one of our classroom assistants. Her patience and kind heart are a gift to her teachers and the students she helps in class!


Lucy began at Dance It Up! at age 2 in Dance 'N Play, and we have loved watching her grow up! Over the years she has studied many genres of dance and participated in several of our performance groups. She currently studies Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, and Latin Dance, and performs with Ballet Repertory Ensemble, Ballet Variations, and in our Nutcracker production each year. This will be her 13th Nutcracker, and she currently preparing for the role of the Snow Queen. She will certainly light up the stage!


Lucy is a busy senior at Hopkinton High School with a rigorous academic schedule, and she also plays the clarinet in the concert and pep bands, participates in Model UN, and is a member of National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society. She's talented, clever, kind, and fun - and we're so proud to call her one of our DIU seniors!

Our Spooktacular Halloween Party was a Blast!

Dancers and friends aged 3-10 had a frightfully good time at our annual Halloween party! Fancy and spooky friends all danced and played together for a night of treats and good times. Thanks to all who attended for making this event such a success. We loved spending the evening with you!

The Fun Continued with Halloween Costume Week!

So many spooky and sweet costumes! We hope you enjoyed seeing these "spooky" friends and watching their Halloween dances.

The next schedule for our Nutcracker cast will include 3 weeks of full cast run-throughs of the whole show, and include a dress rehearsal at the studio to make sure things are all set for the show. Cast members, keep your eyes open for the next Nutcracker Newsletter!

Our dress rehearsal is at Dance It Up! on Saturday, November 18! Professional photos by Shier's Photography in costumes, will take place on the 18th. Bookmark the Nutcracker page on our website and make sure you have subscribed to texting for your account! We will send Nutcracker schedule updates, photo and ticketing information, and announcements via text, and keep an eye out for the next Not Just Nutcracker newsletter!

Share your love of dance with a friend!

November 11-16 we're opening our doors to friends and neighbors to come see what your dancer loves to do the best way possible: trying it out for themselves! No dance experience necessary, just come and Dance It Up! with us!


Friends should be approximately the same age as dancer. We can help with loaner shoes for most genres if needed.


A participation waiver must be completed for each friend prior to attending the class. Please have your friend's parent/guardian complete the linked Google form to let us know they are coming!

When you refer a friend who signs up for classes they get a $25 Dance It Up! tuition credit, and so do you! Make sure your referral contacts the office to let us know that you shared Dance It Up with them and we'll do the rest.

Registration is ONGOING!

It's not too late for new students to join or for current students to add an additional class to their schedule. We offer ongoing registration for all your favorite classes and performance groups. Not sure if a class is right for you? Come to a trial class to find out! See our class offerings listed by age group on the 2023-24 schedule, and sign up for classes on our website. Register before the end of the year to avoid the costume fee increase.

Thank you to all who participated in our Charity Costume Clearance!

We cleaned out the attic for charity and sold some of our old costumes. We're so happy to report that we raised over $200 for Girls on the Run Worcester Chapter. The rest of the costumes are being donated to organizations that will use them for theater productions and games. Thanks to everyone who participated!

We're a few weeks into the season and we are building quite a collection of lost water bottles, coats and dance shoes. Our Lost & Found is located in the upper waiting area atop the white dancer cubbies.

Please mark all water bottles, shoes and clothing with your dancer's name and we will do our best to make sure your lost items are returned to you!
