A reminder about Pertussis (Whooping Cough): Pertussis is always present in the community and usually starts to increase about the same time as the flu. If your child develops a persistent cough that becomes worse over time, he/she should be evaluated by his/her physician so that the appropriate tests are performed and treatment is initiated.
Students suspected of having Pertussis should not attend school until lab test results come back negative, or for positive results, the student has completed the entire course of antibiotics and has been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the assistance of fever-reducing medication.
Pertussis most often occurs in infants and younger children who frequently acquire the disease from older siblings, adolescents, and adults who have a mild disease. While Pertussis most frequently occurs in unvaccinated or under-vaccinated children, it also occurs in school-age children and adults who have had the recommended Pertussis immunizations.

News about Community Arts Day
Did you know that all of the schools in Webster benefit from Community Arts Day?
All of the Webster schools share in the profits of the day. The proceeds go to the Cultural Arts budget and can be used to bring in Artists and Performers or fund new programs related to Art, Music, Writing and Photography to each school.
Did you know that it takes more than 300 volunteers to make CAD successful?
Each of the 11 schools in Webster contribute 3-4 volunteers to the Community Arts Day committee, and 30 volunteers to run the events, donate baked goods, and make the day a great event for our community!
Klem South Parents can volunteer by using this link: Community Arts Day Volunteer
Please consider donating quality baked goods; think items that you would want to buy at a local bakery such as whole fruit pies, scones, over-sized cookies, large muffins, or over-sized cinnamon buns.
All items must be store bought and in original packaging. Please note: we can not accept items that need refrigeration.
Items should be delivered the Klem South office on Thursday 4/4 or Friday 4/5 during office hours.
