News from the Nest!
Nov. 8th-Nov. 12th
Greetings Sky Hawk Families!
We have several important announcements this week:
We have received several complaints from the private businesses surrounding our school regarding student traffic and parents parking to wait on students. We have asked that you use the carline for drop off and pick up. Specifically, the owner of Izzy's has sighted several issues with complaints from paying customers. We have encouraged the owner to follow the necessary measures to protect their business and it's private parking lot.
Door Dash, Bite Squad, etc. deliveries for any student will not be accepted. Please be aware that your child's food will not be delivered with this method. We will ask the company to return the food if necessary. See Student Handbook.
We have addressed the need for our families to notify our office of any transportation changes before 12pm. We have a high traffic front office with calls and drop offs, so please use this link for changes. https://forms.gle/Tj7AeSuxw9uVfAMg9 We cannot guarantee messages will be delivered after 12pm. Checkouts will not be allowed after 3pm.
Students should not bring large sums of money, expensive jewelry, or other valuables to school. These items are susceptible to theft, and the school will not commit substantial resources or time finding stolen items. Students are responsible for the care and protection of their personal belongings. See Student Handbook

Feet to the Seat! Be in Class Every Day
- Students should miss no more than 9 days of school each year to stay engaged, successful and on track to graduation.
- Frequent absences can be a sign that a student is losing interest in school, struggling with school work, dealing with a bully or facing some other difficulty.
- By 6th grade, absenteeism is one of three signs that a student may drop out of high school.
- By 9th grade, attendance is a better predictor of graduation rates than 8th grade test scores.
- Missing 10%, or 2 days a month, over the course of the school year, can affect a student’s academic success.

New ID Badges for PBIS
We are always excited about the great things happening here at our school but celebrating our Skyhawks is our favorite thing to do!
Our online store has been up and running and our Skyhawks are earning those points needed to shop. We have passed out badges (picture ID) for teachers to scan when students are exhibiting positive behaviors! We've asked the students to wear these around their necks every day and most importantly, keep up with them.
Please talk to your child about the points, shopping on our website, celebrations and the overall PBIS Initiative (Positive Behavior Intervention System.)
We want our scholars to always do the right thing because it's the right thing!
Required Vaccines
Letters have gone out for students who are deficient in vaccinations. State Law requires students to be vaccinated or provide proof of exemption letters to attend school. Parents have been notified with letters at the beginning of the school year as well. Please make appointment and notify Nurse Kami as soon as possible to avoid your student being excluded from school after January 14, 2022. If you are not sure if your student needs vaccines, please call 501-447-8505.
