When school is in session, 16- and 17 may work up to 30 hours a week. There are no limitations on the state or federal level to limit the number of hours when school is not active. Teens who are 14 and 15 years old are limited to 15 hours a week when school is in activities and when school is not, are limited to no more than 8 hours per day or 40 hours a week.
