News and Notes
Midterms
4th quarter midterm is Wednesday, April 17. Midterms need to go home with all students no later than Friday, April 19. Midterms should communicate how students are doing in all subject areas with a grade and standards. Put a copy of all midterms in my mailbox by Friday, April 19.
MAP Testing Schedule
Map testing for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade will begin on April 23. This schedule will change AMP for all grade levels for the duration of testing. Chromebooks carts/extra Chromebooks/Chromebooks from 2nd grade will be used for testing for MAP.
The MAP schedule is linked below.
iReady testing schedule is still TBD - but all grade levels will be testing in both Reading and Math.
Professional Growth Plans/Summative
Final observations, followed by one-on-one conversations about your PGP/Summative will happen between now and the beginning-middle of May. When you complete your part of the PGP you will need to include three artifacts. These can be photos, screenshots, or scanned documents that show completion of your goals. Those artifacts can be uploaded anytime, as well as your reflection on the two goals.
Class Lists for 19-20
I will be asking for feedback on class lists for next year in the next few weeks. First we will look at separations - which students should not be together next year. Also, think about students who would work well together. Draft lists will be created and shared with current grade level teachers to get input - teacher names will not be assigned at this point.
If a parent has reached out to you about requests or separations, please have them contact me directly.
Summer School
We've already got over 100 kids signed up! I will have a few extra teaching openings if you are interested in applying.
Classroom teachers need to make contact with parents through emails, notes, in-person discussion, or phone calls to the parents of the students that need to attend summer school for remedial work (not reading on grade level) and to meet the requirements of Senate Bill 319. Parents need to understand the urgency of their child's needs and give summer school serious consideration. Any student who has an iReady license should be encouraged to attend as well. Student-Led Conferences would be a great time to get parents to enroll students for Summer School.
Absences
If you have a planned absence, please let me know ahead of time. There are blue sheets in the file divider in the office. Personal days must be approved 2 weeks in advance. Sick days do not need approval, but I would like to get them on the calendar as soon as possible.
SSTs
It's not too late to start an SST on a student struggling academically or behaviorally. It's best to document concerns and strategies being used to address those concerns.
Grades in Infinite Campus
Update your grades at a minimum of the 15th and 30th of each month.
Posting text levels needs to be done monthly in Infinite Campus - this is a district expectation.
