1st Grade Musical: E-I-E-I-Oops!
Please join our 1st graders as they perform E-I-E-I-Oops! on Tuesday, March 1st. Each child is participating in a special way and it is very important for each of them to be here for their big day.
Performances will be at 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. (following PTA meeting)
Costumes will be made by the students during their art class. However, if you could have them wear jeans and the appropriate solid color shirt (see below) it will enhance the program.
Mrs. Stachelski & Mrs. Hayes: Sheep- wear WHITE shirts
Mrs. Feemster & Mrs. Browder: PIGS- wear PINK or BROWN shirts
Mrs. Stobaugh’s class splits up for co-curr and comes on different days. Your child should know which class they come with. If not, please e-mail me!
*All girls have the option to be a chick. If your 1st grade girl would like to be a chick, she should wear a YELLOW shirt.
I’m looking forward to the performances! More information will be communicated soon. Thank you for your support of IES Music!

The festival is an opportunity for students to develop their visual literacy and expand their educational experience in Keller ISD by fostering the creativity, artistic, communication and technical skills required for producing a movie. Students have seven entry categories to choose from including Story, Comedy, Music Video, Documentary, PSA Plus and Animation, and have the chance to be honored at an Awards Ceremony on April 5th, 2016 at the spectacular Alliance Cinemark XD Movie Theater, where they can win trophies, certificates, prizes and more!

Proposed school boundary changes and how it impacts Independence.
Keller ISD will host a series of public forums January 12, 14, and 27 to provide additional information, answer questions, and gather feedback regarding proposed attendance zone changes for the 2016-17 school year.
KISD’s Board of Trustees, at a Special Meeting on November 30, previewed potential upcoming feeder pattern changes as recommended prior to the 2014 Bond, as well as additional attendance zone adjustments to accommodate student population growth.
Public forums will be held at the campuses that would be impacted by the proposed changes:
- Lone Star Elementary – 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 12
- Friendship Elementary – 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 12
- Caprock Elementary – 6:30 p.m. Thursday, January 14
- Independence Elementary – 6:30 p.m. Thursday, January 14
Additionally, a fifth forum will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 27 at the Keller ISD Education Center (350 Keller Parkway). At each of the forums, District administrators will be in attendance to explain the proposed changes (also outlined below), provide any clarification, and receive feedback from parents and community members with thoughts or ideas about the proposed changes.
- Move areas south of Keller-Hicks Road, north of Golden Triangle Boulevard, and east of North Beach Street zoned for Caprock Elementary to Independence Elementary
- Helps balance enrollment at both campuses
- click here for a visual of the proposed boundary change
Questions related to transfer options, grandfathering in current students, and siblings of students currently attending the campus will be addressed at the Presentations.
