A note from our nurse
Please see illness guidelines on keeping children home from school due to illness. They are located on the sycamore website under health services. We are sending this out to the entire school as a simple reminder of the common illnesses we see at this age and whether or not they should come to school. Your child’s health and wellness is important to us and with the upcoming flu season we are requesting that you follow these guidelines.
If your child has had diarrhea, vomiting or a fever they should not come to school. If your child’s temperature is 100 degrees Fahrenheit or greater (or 1 or 2 degrees above the child’s normal temperature) she/he should remain home until they are without fever (and without medication) for a full 24 hours. They need to be free from Diarrhea and vomiting for 24 hours before coming back to school.
Handwashing is the number one way to prevent the spread of germs! Next week Nurse Ferron is doing her handwashing lessons. Please remind your children to wash their hands and cover their coughs and sneezes appropriately even at home so they can develop good health habits early on.
Our custodians do a great job cleaning our building and classrooms daily but we need your help when students are not feeling well keeping them home so other students including your child can remain healthy. If you are not sure please feel free to call Nurse Ferron 513-686-1743 for advice. We thank you for helping us keep Symmes a healthy place to be!
4th Grade Winter Concert
Please join us for the 4th Grade Concert "Tacky and the Emperor." This music performance will include singing, dancing, and instrument playing. All the music will be created and played by 4th grade students on percussion instruments and recorder. A special treat will be to have Agnes Wang (professional pianist and 4th grade parent) accompany students during the concert.
The story follows Tacky, an odd penguin, who teaches his penguin colony that being different is what makes things exciting and fun! Tacky brings his own unique brand of humor and entertainment to the emperor’s visit.
Concert is December 12th at 7:00 P.M. Also, a daytime performance will be for students at 2:45 P.M.
