PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Kia ora koutou,

What happened to last week's amazing weather? Looks like we're in for a cold few days ahead.

This week we welcome our new students; Tai in Room 24, Olivia in Room 6, Ruben in Room 4, Wian in Room 8, Aries & Zander in Room 23. Well done on making such a great start to school everyone!

On the Covid front, we have not had a case at school for over a week now which is really positive news.

EnviroSchools Silver Reflection

Tomorrow we have our Silver Reflection where the school will come under the microscope. We have a number of students presenting to the assessors. I would like to thank these students in advance and the amazing Mrs Jarvis for her excellent organisation.

Cross Country Year 3-6

Well done to our amazing Year 3-6 students who ran in the Cross Country last week. While the ground was pretty soggy, it was a beautiful day. It was excellent to see the encouragement on display, especially for those students who find running a challenge. A big thank you to Mrs Cooper for her organisation and to the amazing parents and teachers for your support.

Greenlock Exchange

This Friday we have our annual sports exchange with Greenmeadows School at HNPS. The sporting codes on display are Football, Netball, Hockey and Rugby. After the rain over the past 24 hours, there will have to be a good deal of wind and drying time for the grounds to be open.

Function Centre Carpark

We have been advised that on Friday the car park will be closed as they are having tree work completed around the driveway. Thank you.

Positive Behaviour For Learning

Focus for the next few weeks is...

We put our belongings away responsibly.

We have had so many children leaving their jerseys lying around and our lost property box has been overflowing. Most jerseys have a name so these can be handed back. We are having a real push on children picking up their jerseys (and other belongings) and putting them away. We hope this push transfers to home also. Help us by encouraging your child to put their belongings away at home.

Enviro Corner - Week 7

Good Caps

Thank you for washing the plastic caps. Please allow them to air dry before putting them into the bag. Moisture in the caps creates smell and contamination. We’d love you to tip your bag of caps into the box and take the bag straight home.

The original Penguin of the Year is back for its fifth year. Last year saw our infamous ‘bad boy’ Mo taking out the title after three years as a finalist. It could be anyone’s crown to take and it’s up to you, their dedicated fans, to vote for your favourite.


Dora could be your fav for having a high profile this year appearing as Naughty Penguin of the Month more than most for stealing the limelight during keeper talks, having a continued vendetta against the male keepers and wanting to stay in bed all day. Martin and Dave like to squabble, and Marina and new arrival Kaewa have made a name for themselves chasing the divers and leading others astray.


Whether it’s Pepper, Flip, Burny or any of our other wonderful kororā, YOU get the chance to have your say with voting closing Monday 12 September. We'll then go straight to the winner. announcement on Wednesday 14 September.

Conservation week events

** PTB T-Shirt Orders Close Next Week**

The final day for t-shirt orders will be 16th September, so please place your orders. The Peak Trail Blazer T-Shirts can again be worn in Term 4 as school uniform. This year we are introducing a navy blue dri-fit t-shirt which will be more breathable for walking and running. T-shirts are going to be distributed at the end of this term. We are also running a t-shirt photo competition for the children with more details to come. T-shirts can be ordered at https://eventplus.net/PTB22.

The PTB on the 20th November is a 100% fundraising event and we thank you all for your support. We are proud to be supporting Re-Source and HNPS again this year. You can enter the PTB at www.peaktrailblazer.co.nz

School Board of Trustee Elections

You should have received your voting paper by now. Please bring your voting paper into the school office and place it in the box at reception before 4 pm, tomorrow, 7 September. If you are posting your vote, the postal votes must be received at the school office by 12 September.
