Message from our Principal
Dear Families,
We had some new routines and procedures in place last week and we worked at re-learning the old ones. Our Wildcats are super resilient and I am happy to report that we did not skip a beat in our learning.
Ms. Itzel will be leaving our 2nd Grade Dual Language team. We are grateful for Ms. Itzel and for the great job she has done. We look forward to seeing the amazing job she will be doing in 5th grade Dual Language. We are excited to welcome back Mrs. Martinez in 2nd Grade Dual Language. She went on maternity leave last year. Please join me in welcoming her back!
Please make sure to look for inclement weather announcements from our district office. Snow and ice make for dangerous road conditions and the district makes an announcement by 6:30 a.m. if school will be closed or on a 2 hour late start. While the snow may be clear in downtown Monroe, please keep in mind our bus routes go into the surrounding hills. In addition, please be watchful when on campus as snow, ice, and rain make for muddy conditions. We are aware of the current conditions at the walkers & pickup at the gym. We are working as quickly as possible with our Facilities/Maintenance department to find a long term solution. In the meantime, please watch your step!
There is still a huge need (not just in our building) but across the district for substitute teachers and para educators. If you are interested or know of anyone that would be, you can find our current postings here.
Please remember that while we are not requiring paper attestations this year, students and/or their guardians are required to screen for symptoms of COVID-19 prior to the arrival of school. Masks are required for all on campus, regardless of vaccination status. The only masks that are not acceptable, per the Health Department, are mesh masks and gaters with only one level of fabric. All other masks will work and we always have masks available if students need one.
Best,
Hugo

COVID Protocols and Preventions
Just a few reminders related to our COVID protocols.
Please DO NOT send your child to school if they have any symptoms that could be related to COVID-19, even if you think they just have a cold. Without the daily attestations, we are relying on you to assess your child’s health status and appropriateness for school. Thank you for your help in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
If your child, or anyone in your household, tests positive for COVID-19, please notify the health room, principal, or front office staff right away. Please know in advance that your child(ren) will need to remain at home.
If your child needs to quarantine because he/she was found to be a close contact of someone who tested positive, please work with your classroom teacher or the office to have a chromebook sent home or to pick up a chromebook at school. Please call the office from outside and we will deliver a chromebook to your car if necessary.
HIPAA laws protect confidential health information, including COVID-19 status. Because of this, we are unable to share the identity of anyone in our community who tests positive. Thank you for understanding.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

From our School Counselor, Mrs. Simeoni
A New Year’s Resolution; the promise to do something differently in the New Year. A promise people make to themselves about a change they want to make.
A lot of people make a new year’s resolutions. They are often based on self- improvements people think they need to make and they are often hard to achieve. Here is a new year’s resolution that will be easy to keep, make you happier, and benefit the entire family. Play together. Watch together. I know there can be little time in the day for play, but think about it; how often is your child, or you, on a device playing video games, on social media or watching you tube. This electronic time can alienate us from each other. Video gaming or you tube watching can become a source of tension between parents and kids. One way to help with this is to learn about the games your child plays online. Ask about what interesting videos they’ve seen. Talk about it, ask to join in. It not only brings us closer to our kids, but we can also make sure they are using the internet responsibly. And don’t be afraid to go “old school”. You would be surprised at the number of students that come to my office and are excited to play the board games “Sorry” and “Candy Land”. This is one New Year’s resolution that all of us will enjoy. Happy 2022, Ms. Simeoni
Student Vaccination
As some of our students are receiving vaccinations for Covid-19, we wanted to let you know how this changes guidelines after students are considered "fully vaccinated" (14 full days after the second dose).
If a child is fully vaccinated and is identified as a close contact, they are able to stay at school without testing or quarantine, assuming they continue to display no symptoms. If a vaccinated child does display symptoms of Covid-19, we must then continue to follow the illness guidelines for the Snohomish Health District.
If you would like us to know your child's vaccination dates, please feel free to email or call the office.
Reminders
- Lost and Found- Please remind your child(ren) to stop by our lost and found on their way to or from their lunch or recess breaks. Also, please make sure to label your child(ren's) items with their full name.
- Drop off times - Students are only to be dropped off at 8:35AM IF they are having breakfast at school. Students should only arrive at 8:50AM if they are not having breakfast at school.
- Facemasks -Per our WA state mask mandate, all students over the age of 2, are required to wear a mask at school. We ask that you please send your child(ren) to school with a facemask. If possible, we also ask that you please pack an extra facemask in their backpack. Thank you.
- Extra Clothes- As the weather gets colder and it rains more, we ask that you please pack your kids an extra set of clothes. The health room does not have enough extra clothes for all students.
- Student pick-up in the office - We cannot call students into the office until parents are present and have shown their I.D. If you call ahead of time, we will not call the student to the office in advance.
