Ms. Verdugo's, Principal's Message

I hope everyone has had a great long weekend that included spending time with your loved ones, family, and friends, and may have included a little reflection on how great our country is, because of President Lincoln because he conveyed a positive message about trust and optimism to everyone!

At Parkridge this week, we celebrated our School Counselor, Mrs. Megan Blanco for National School Counselor's Week. Mrs. Blanco is an integral part of our school and we couldn't do it without her! This coming week is bus driver appreciation week. Our bus drivers work hard to make sure your children can enjoy school field trips and arrive and return from home safely each day.

Here are a couple Family Topics for discussion, that we would really appreciate if you can have with your student(s);

1. Use of foul language/bad words is not appropriate and should not be used on campus.

2. Attendance is very important and the goal should be that a student does not miss more than 4 Days of school THE ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR!

3. Homework is typically given Monday through Thursday, and... if there is not homework assigned, A STUDENT SHOULD STILL READ OR BE READ TO EVERY NIGHT! (Please check and sign your students' AVID Planner nightly. This is a GREAT organization tool that takes little time to complete and can increase your students' academic achievement, A LOT!)

Thank you families, for supporting us in maintaining a STRONG AND POSITIVE Home-School Connection, so that your child reaches their learning goals and expectations, and together we build foundations for future successes in their lives!

Sandy Verdugo,

Counselor's Corner

This month your child has been challenged with a daily act of kindness. A simple act of kindness such as a friendly hello or smile can make a big impact on someone's day. It's hard not to continue spreading kindness once someone does something kind for you. Pay it forward, as they say. Ask your child what acts of kindness they completed this month. Also ask them if someone did something nice for them. Don't forget to be kind to yourself, too! Think of something you are good at or something that makes you special. Thinking positive can change your outlook for the day!

District-Provided Devices

Big picture

"With great power, there must also come great responsibility." - Spider-Man

All students have been issued District devices and this technology is intended to support student learning. In order to use the technology at an optimal level, it is fundamental that students are caring for their Chromebooks and meeting expectations of proper usage and maintenance. This includes fully charging the device prior to coming to school. Each device (which includes the charger) is assigned to a student , just like a school textbook. If the device and charger are lost or damaged it will be treated like a damaged or lost textbook or library book, which means fines will be charged. Please ensure that your student is responsible with their Chromebooks and chargers, as they are intended to support their learning.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Ms. Adame, Assistant Principal , sadame@cnusd.k12.ca.us

Here is a commonly asked question:

Do families need to sign the Mobile Device Check-out agreement form?

No for the 2021-22 school year any Chromebook/hotspot check-outs are covered under the policy AR 8560. The policy is referenced in the Parent/Student handbook which parents/student acknowledge and confirm was read at the time of online registration.

ParentConnect now has a section for parents to confirm that they have read the policy as part of online registration. Any parents that already completed online registration will not need to go back to confirm the policy. Parents that go into ParentConnect to make changes or with students that are new to the district will need to confirm the policy.

Having trouble with a district device? Need to restart? Won't log in?
