From the Desk of Dr. Rodriguez
As educators, we know the importance of celebrating student success and the impact that words of encouragement have on our children. We remind our students of the great potential they have to make a positive impact on others each and every day. Sometimes as educators, we are so focused on conveying that message to our students that we forget to remind ourselves of the same thing! This week was National Assistant Principals Week, and we took the time to tell our very own amazing assistant principal, Ms. Johnson, just how much she means to everyone at Riviera Day School. Her dedication to our profession is inspiring, and her relentless pursuit of having every child succeed in the classroom is astounding. We are so grateful for everything Ms. Johnson does for all of us, and we hope she knows that the impact she has made on all of us will last for years to come. Here are some pictures of the wonderful tokens of recognition and thanks our students made for Ms. Johnson last week. Enjoy!
Have a wonderful week, and be sure to check out our next edition of Friday at 4:00 in two weeks!
Sincerely,
Dr. Rodriguez
Special Events
Students in kindergarten through second grade will take the SAT next week. Please make sure your children arrive early (well before the 8:30 am bell) so that they can be in class comfortably, without rushing, and ready to start the exam at the bell. Students will not be allowed into their classroom once testing has started each morning.
Friday, April 15, is a Teacher Planning Day; school will be closed.
With love and admiration for our soldiers
Each year, the Riviera Schools Parents Club partners with the organization, iPads for Soldiers, to send iPads to many injured American troops around the world. Soldiers use the iPads for a myriad of reasons, but the most important one is to stay connected to their families at home. This is a wonderful initiative in and of itself, but I have to say that what the soldiers appreciate even more than the iPads are the letters our Day School students send them with the iPads. Technology is wonderful when it is our only way to connect with our loved ones, but when it is paired with messages filled with the beautiful sentiments of our little ones, the gift becomes something so much greater than just a tablet. It reminds our soldiers of their purpose in the world and that they are greatly appreciated by the very people they are protecting. The letters our students write to the soldiers are filled with messages of hope for their safe return, gratitude for their bravery, and recognition of how hard it must be to leave their families just to protect all of us. We would like to thank the Parents Club for giving our students the opportunity to recognize the dedication our troops have to protecting our country. Hopefully, the letters will make our troops smile.
