PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Kia ora koutou

Yesterday we postponed our Senior Athletics as it was wet. They will now be on next Monday, 28th March. Who knows where we will be with Covid guidelines - I hope they change in time for us to invite you all back in to watch. We will let you know if this is the case.

I want to say a huge welcome to Sarah Bennett who will be working as a teacher in Room 4, with Mrs Sadlier. Sarah is completing her training and we love helping in that area. Welcome aboard Sarah.

Yesterday it was my privilege to join Matua Ricky at his pōwhiri at Horowhenua District Council. It was a beautiful handover and we are very proud of him, and for him. Go well Matua ... see you on Friday with Kapahaka!

With the number of new enrolments we have been having, we are looking at when we need to open our next 5-year-old class (exciting!). If you have any 4-year-olds who are going to start at Levin East this year, please contact the office so we can meet with you and confirm dates for the new class (Room 8).

Please feel free to catch up with us via email, phone or text- they are the safest ways at present.

Kiā pai tō wiki. Have a great week.

Senior Athletics Day

Senior Athletics are just around the corner for Year 4 students and up. We will be holding our athletics day on Monday, March 28th this year.

We are, unfortunately, unable to host spectators at this time but will be sharing photos on HERO.

Please ensure your tamariki come to school with a water bottle and in shorts and

t-shirts ready to have a fun day of athletics on the field! It would be great if they wore their Whānau House colours.

CHROMEBOOKS

At Levin East, students in teams Kōhuri, Te Whanake and Māhuri use chromebooks for digital learning. Whilst the school has some chromebooks, it is warmly recommended that parents & caregivers seriously consider providing chromebooks for their tamariki in these teams.

To help with this, Te Hinaki Trust is offering the opportunity for whānau & families to apply for sponsorship. Whānau / family pay $100 towards the cost of the chromebook, and apply to the Trust for the rest.

If you would like more information or to collect sponsorship forms, please see Mrs Barnard at the school office.

Bought Lunches From the Dairy

Please remember we are no longer taking lunch orders from the dairy at school.

If you wish to order a lunch from the dairy, an adult needs to order at the dairy and collect from the dairy at lunchtime then bring it to the office for your child.

HERO APP

Have you downloaded the Hero by Linc-Ed app?

This is how you access your child/ren’s reporting information.

We also use this app to keep you up to date with our community notices. Download ‘Hero by Linc-Ed’ at the app store and let us know if you need help from there.

Big picture

Variety the children’s charity provides Kiwi Kids Sponsorship which matches a child living in financial hardship with a sponsor to provide funding each year for basic essentials, school related costs and extra-curricular activities. This is a great way to get a little extra help.

For more information please come and see Mrs Barnard.
