Gallop Event Coordinator in Training
Time Commitment: July-October; initial planning begins in July and things get busy in September. Less than 5 hours/week on average.
The Gator Gallop is our school’s biggest fundraiser. This is the last year that our Gator Gallop Chairman will be running the event and we are looking for a volunteer to learn about the event and train in the position to be able to run the Gator Gallop in future years.
The great thing about being a part of the Gator Gallop Committee is that you can give back to the school, but all during the first few months of school! Since the event takes place in the late summer/early fall all of the time commitment is at the beginning of the school year--and then you're done! It's a fun event for the kids AND the staff to be able to raise money for the school that they can use for the entire year.
The Gator Gallop co-chair will assist the main Gator Gallop chairman with the following:
- Website development/coordination with vendor partner that manages Web site
- Partnership with principal, PTO committee members and teachers to promote, plan and execute the event
- Coordinate incentives for students to receive while fundraising
- Work with PTO treasurers on donations, submitting to Web site and following up with families
- Select spirit days for spirit week the week of Gator Gallop
- Availability to be on-site all day the day of the event
- HAVE FUN! The kids really love this day!
Fall Festival Coordinator and Co-Coordinator
Time Commitment: Planning for the Fall Festival begins at the beginning of school and concludes soon after the event in early November.
The Fall Festival is our largest school event of the year. This position and co-position will organize the Festival, plan organizational meetings with the Chairs of the Fall Festival committees and report back to the Board throughout the planning process. While event planning experience is not necessary, excellent communication and event management skills will be helpful. This position will have the support of the Board to answer any questions along the way.

Easy Ways to Support GES!
Do you shop at Amazon or Kroger? If so, there is an easy way to donate a portion or percentage of your purchases to Geist Elementary. Although the percentage may seem small, the total amount back to GES adds up significantly the more people that register! These rewards programs do not cost anything to sign-up and are easy to register by using the following steps:
Amazon: Anytime you make a purchase on Amazon, go to Amazon Smile to shop at www.smile.amazon.com. Choose Geist Elementary PTO, Inc as your supporting organization and GES will receive 0.5% of your total purchases.
Kroger: Register your Kroger Plus Card at www.Kroger.com/account/enrollCommunityRewardsNow. Then, sign into your Kroger account and link your card to GES’s organization number which is GU130. Then, shop and swipe your Kroger Plus Card at the checkout and GES will earn cash! We had about 140 registered cards last quarter and GES earned over $4400 last year!
Thank you for registering and giving back through these programs!
