The Eagle's Nest
Week of January 10, 2022
Mayor Sammy Phillips spoke at the Eagle of the Month Breakfast

Happy Sunday Families!
It has been a great week at Clyde Erwin. Our students and their families had the opportunity to meet Sammy Phillips, our mayor, at the Eagle of the Month breakfast. He spoke on responsibility and how it affects his job. Students also started their iReady midyear diagnostic and practiced a fire drill.
This week our third through fifth grade students will take the NC Check-Ins, please make sure they bring their laptop to school, charged. If your child does not have headphones, please make sure you send in a pair with them this week.
Looking ahead, we will observe the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday, January 17, and there's no school for students. January 18-19 are Teacher Workdays.
As we start 2022, we want to remind students and parents about the importance of strong attendance practices. Onslow County Schools Board Policy 4400 states that students who miss more than 20 days in a school year, whether excused or unexcused, are at risk of retention and may not move to the next grade. Help us avoid these consequences by ensuring all students are on time and at school daily. We understand that illnesses will occur and students who are sick should stay home and parents are reminded to simply send a note when students to return to ensure the absence is coded correctly.
Please make sure your child arrives at school by 8:00am daily. The habits they form as children will go with them into adulthood and we want our Eagles to be the best that they can be.
