Getting To Know Your Chromebooks
Components of Quality Tech Integration
What You Need To Know About Chromebooks:
- similar to laptops in operation, but don't have any programs loaded
- web-only devices connected to SISD mobile which is monitored and filtered
- affordable, durable, and student friendly
- only 2 places to save things - downloads or Google Drive
- must sign in with a Google account to use
- batteries can last the entire school day
- apps and extensions can be loaded to the user's account from the Chrome Web Store
How Can I Get Chromebooks For Student Use?
- Carts have been assigned to specific classrooms based on the district's Digital Learning plan.
- More carts are available for check out in your library - see your librarian.
Components of Quality Technology Integration
- well planned, teacher tested digital learning activities
- active monitoring of student usage
- role of the teacher as the facilitator is evident - the devices can't teach students in your place!
- digital learning activity is directly aligned to and meets the content objective
- tools & activities promote 21st Century Skills: communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking
- blended learning environment - technology, pencil/paper, manipulative, etc.
- Technology, Pedagogy, and Content (TPACK model)
