ESL LLI Information from Mrs.Murillo
ESL staff will continue to teach all 3rd-5th grade LLI groups through Friday, May 10th,
As such, ESL staff will be unable to administer EOY F&P assessments for their scholars in LLI groups. However, if you have a specific pressing need for 1 or 2 scholars, we might be able to assist. Please reach out to me directly with any requests, questions or concerns.
Ellevation Tasks – due by end of day Wed. May 15th
2-5 teachers: If you have exited (reclassified) scholar(s) in your class, within their first two years of being exited from ESL, you should have received an Exited Monitoring form to complete on Ellevation, one for each core subject per exited scholar.
K-5 teachers: As of 4/30, you were assigned an End of Year Review form for every EL in your class. Please see attachment “One Pager…” for directions.
Notice about IPT & MAP Testing for Scholar Exits
For these last few weeks, you may receive a calendar invite from me, requesting to pull out various ELs for IPT or MAP Language Usage testing (2nd grade only). This may mean the scholar is a potential candidate for exiting ESL, based on high language proficiency. I am attempting to pull out scholars first during specials, but may need to pull from other blocks if necessary.
Please invite Ms. Murillo or Ms. Luna to your planning Period and we can help you complete the ellevation monitoring task.
Mental Health Green Out Day & Activities
May is mental health awareness month! To show our support, we are designating Friday, May 17th as our network wide Green Out Day. On this day, staff and scholars across Uplift will be asked wear green to show their support (calendar invite to come). The week leading up to the 17th would be a great time to have discussions on what mental health is, mental health disorders, and coping skills in the classroom. For any staff who would like to have these discussions, below are some videos that could be shown during morning meetings. Also attached are ideas for lesson plans, projects, and coping skills handouts that can be used with scholars.

IB
IB
This week Ms. Hennigh’s class will help us understand the significance and application of a new IB attitude, Cooperation. Cooperation is collaborating and leading or following as the situation demands. Below are some ideas for morning meeting topics to discuss with your scholars this week:
- Why is cooperation important when you are on a sports team?
- How does cooperation help us accomplish tasks?
- How does cooperation help all scholars get into college?
- What happens when people don’t cooperate in order to get something done?
- Sometimes cooperation means leading others, and other times it means following others. Why is it important to both lead and follow? How do you know which to do when?
- Co is a prefix that means “with” or “together”. How does knowledge of this prefix help us understand cooperation?
