DHS Graduation Class of 2023
Class of 2024 Senior Pictures
Class of 2024 can you believe you are just a few weeks away from being seniors? Time to start thinking about all of the senior things including senior photos! This year’s senior’s photos will be taken by CADY studios. You must have your portrait taken by CADY to be included in the senior section of the yearbook. Please go to CADY studio to register now! You can register and sign up for a session HERE.
There are several photo options you can choose, but to be in the yearbook you just need the yearbook pose. The SIMPLE SESSION includes the formal shot, Cap and Gown photos, and one extra ‘scene.’ You should have started receiving emails about scheduling an appointment. You can go to one of their studios OR schedule an appointment here at the high school during a Road Show. The closest studio, The Atlanta Studio, located at 2030 Powers Ferry Rd., Suite 520 Atlanta, Georgia 30339 (near the Braves Stadium) is accepting appointments now. It is advised that you schedule an appointment sooner rather than later so that you can get retakes if you wish.
For the YEARBOOK POSE (the picture in the yearbook) you have your choice of the traditional outfit provided by CADY - the tux or drape. If you do not wish to be photographed in the traditional attire you may wear a SOLID BLACK OUTFIT of your choosing -sweater, turtleneck, button down, dress, or your own black suit with black tie.
Cady will be taking appointments online for the Decatur High Road Shoot days 90 days before the actual date. These dates include: Saturday 8/19 and Saturday 10/14. If you do not get an appointment on one of these days you will have to go to the studio to get your picture taken. To ensure that you get to choose your photo please take your picture by 10/31. You can decide what photo you want as long as you choose BEFORE 11/10/2023.
You have until October 31, either at school or at a studio, to get your photo taken for inclusion in the 2022-2024 yearbook. Please go to cady.com/schedule in order to schedule your appointment as soon as possible.

Teacher Appreciation - PTSA
Hey Parents and Guardians! Can you believe school is almost out?! It’s that time of year to show our appreciation for our DHS teachers (Teacher appreciation week is May 8 - May 12). Please click on the link to donate and please remember that any amount is appreciated.
SGA COLLECTION DRIVE
What: SGA is hosting a drive collecting necessities that can be put together into bags for the unhoused population in Atlanta
When: Monday, April 24 - Friday, May 19
Why: Homelessness is a significant issue in our community. Atlanta is estimated to have an unhoused population of over 3,200. By creating these bags, we will have something to give to people on the streets, keeping them a little bit warmer and less hungry for the night.
How to participate: Sign up to donate items by clicking on the SignUp Genius link and filling out a slot. Then drop your items off in the DHS bus loop (outside for weekend/after school drop-offs) or LLC lobby (area in between library and cafeteria) between April 24 and May 19!

Decatur Robotics Bites and Bots
Decatur Robotics FRC is currently recruiting for the 2023-24 school year! The team participates in the FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC) program, which introduces students to engineering, coding, CAD, and more in an engaging, inclusive, and creative environment. Rising freshmen and current high school students are invited to join team members for Bites and Bots on May 10 to learn more about what we do! Parents of potential members may also join us.
DHS Skate Club
Our DHS Skate Club has received some fantastic local press! The May issue of the Decatur Focus publication features the club in both the cover story as well as in the Walk & Roll Superstars column on page 4. The skate club members ride their skateboards to school most days, and we encourage all students to walk, ride, and skate to and from school!
Here is the Focus issue:
Chromebook Return
All chromebooks, chromebook cases and chargers should be returned to the Learning Commons.
Way to Go!
This season the Decatur Varsity Ultimate Frisbee Girls team finished with an impressive 3rd place in the state! Even more importantly, they won the Spirit of the Game award for the second year in a row, a sportsmanship honor voted on by their opponents. The girls team grew tremendously this year with so many new players. We're so proud of our Bulldogs!
CSD Athletics News and Updates
DHS Baseball Advances to Elite Eight
The DHS Baseball Bulldogs advanced to the quarterfinals of the GHSA State Playoffs on Saturday. The Bulldogs won two games (20-10 and 13-7) to move on. In two high-scoring contests, the Bulldogs relied on their bats, consistently putting the ball in play and over the fence! Next round games will be played on Saturday against Centennial High School. Game 1 will begin at 1 pm. We’ve enjoyed hosting the first two rounds and invite everyone to make the trip to Centennial Saturday.
DHS Tennis Finishes Season in Quarterfinals
Congratulations to our Girls' and Boys' Tennis teams who advanced to the quarterfinal round of the GHSA State Playoffs. The boys defeated Greenbrier High School 3-0 at home, while the Girls’ team battled back to victory on the road in Statesboro.
On Monday, our Girls' traveled to Cambridge High School. The Bulldogs battled back-and-forth ultimately conceding in a tie-break in set #2 of a doubles match-up with the match score at 2-2. The Boys' team faced off against Greater Atlanta Christian at home in front of an energized crowd at Glenlake Park. Like the Girls’, the Boys’ stayed close but came up short in the end.
Congratulations and Thank You to all of our Tennis athletes, Coaches Messer and Pressley, and the Tennis Staff for providing an opportunity for our fans to support the team during this historic playoff run! We are looking forward to future success!

Extra Mile Awards
Students: Do you know a teacher or CSD employee who has gone “the extra mile” this year? Nominate them for the CSD Extra Mile Award! The Extra Mile Award is an annual award that allows students to show appreciation for the teachers or staff they feel go above and beyond what is expected of them.
Students (not parents) at any grade level can write an essay describing how their teacher (or staff member) goes the extra mile (parents can help younger children write the essay). The essays should be detailed and describe how the employee goes above and beyond.
Click here to submit a nomination. The deadline is May 31.
These awards will be presented at the CSD Opening Day Celebration in July.

DHS and CSD Communication Survey
Hi DHS Families,
Please complete this survey to help us best plan for and implement communication structures that will keep our DHS families informed of the important happenings in our school community. All schools will be conducting a similar survey.
The results of these surveys will be shared with other school and district leaders to help inform areas of strength and growth throughout the district.
This survey should take you approximately 10 minutes to complete, and will provide us with valuable information about our communication platforms, frequency, and content. Thank you for your support.
