FUN Reading Challenge!!!
The Book Fairy paid ERES a little visit and is asking for help from our students to bring the magic back to Mr. A and Mr. Becker. They are members of the enchanted forest and have lost their magic. They need the kids to read for 20 minutes a night for 20 days starting Nov 5 and ending Nov 28. Forms can be turned into the library on the 28th. If their minutes add up to 98,000 minutes then Mr. A and Mr Becker with get their magic back. The book fairy says that they will dress as their magical creatures on Nov 30th. I heard one is a fairy King and one is a Unicorn.
Please encourage your kids to read. Here is a link to a video explaining it for the kids.
Book Fair...
Our Virtue for the next two weeks is GENEROSITY!
Generosity is giving and sharing. You share freely, not with the idea of receiving something in return. You find ways to give other happiness, and give just for the joy of giving. Generosity is one of the best ways to show love and friendship.
Here are some questions to discuss with your child regarding generosity:
- When do you find it most difficult to share? When do you feel like sharing?
- How do you feel when someone does not share with you?
- How do you feel when someone does share with you?
- What helps you to be generous?
- Who is it hard to be generous to? Who is it easy to be generous to?
- Have you ever sacrificed something that is important to you? How did that feel?
- What are three ways you can be generous at home today?
Thanks for your support!
ELA (English Language Arts) - Wonders
Dear Family Member:
This week our class will be focusing on the qualities that make animals unique. We will talk about what characteristics make animals different from each other.
Here are some activities that you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we’ll be practicing.
Word Workout
- Words to Know: synonyms You and your child define the words. Then you will take turns using words from the list in sentences.
- Spelling/Phonics: r-controlled vowels You will read the words to your child. Have your child identify the spelling of the /ur/ sound in each word (for example: ir, er, ur, and or).
Comprehension: problem and solution
You and your child will read about how the bluebird got her color, and why. You will also learn how the coyote got his color. Then you will talk about the problems of the story characters.
