Weekly Words from Wildwood #11
A glimpse into this week's happenings at your child's school
Help our Hawks Be Ready for Rain!
The TK/K gate will be closed on rainy days.
TKers and Kindergarteners will enter through the MPR,
while all others will enter either open gates.
Please consider sending your child to school with an umbrella and a hooded/rain-repellant jacket. We will stick to the usual dismissal process as often as we can. With the umbrella and proper clothing, this should be just fine!
Do you know why?
Because Hawk families are so polite and efficient that dismissal takes about an astonishing ten minutes!
The alternative of having all 550+ kids in the MPR for dismissal would create insanely long lines in the one front driveway. We value your time too much to do such unless there is a more severe weather reason.
If you ever want to offer suggestions about dismissal ~ or anything for that matter ~ you are ALWAYS welcome to do this! See the parent input form below to do this today. (:
Hawks had a chance to "practice" for rainy day lunch on our last cold Monday.
Halloween Hangout is on Friday from 5-7pm! Please join us!
Candy Donations Welcome! Drop off in office between 7:30-4pm. (:
Fun Friday issss.... Costume Day! What a fun way to finish Red Ribbon Week!
Hawks wore their favorite color day for Fun Friday on 10/22!
What is YOUR favorite color?
Wildwood education ~ growing in academics and MORE!
Lunchtimes and recesses gives our lil Hawks a chance to grow in life skills ~ handling relationships, managing emotions, and communicating effectively!
The Great ShakeOut drill ~ the Hawks were excellent!
Current Hawk Volunteer Requirements
We appreciate each of our incredible volunteers who come to help us at various school functions throughout the year! There is, however, a new requirement to participate in volunteer activities that we must share with you regarding COVID-19 vaccines. Beginning on October 15th, we will be required to ask each of our volunteers to share their proof of vaccination or record of a negative COVID-19 test from within seven calendar days of the school function you will be participating in. If you are unvaccinated, please be prepared to bring your most recent COVID-19 test for each function as these results will not be stored.
We will not be storing your records. We will only make note of your vaccination status in our electronic background check system used for all visitors and volunteers.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this.
Please read the message from our District Office regarding a new public health order from the State of California:
Dear YCJUSD Families,
On August 11th, 2021, the State Public Health Officer issued an order requiring schools to verify the COVID-19 vaccination status of all workers. The order defines workers as paid and unpaid adults serving in school settings, which includes staff and volunteers who are on-site supporting school functions. Schools must be in full compliance by October 15th, 2021, and do not have an option to decline implementation. This order does not apply to visitors.
If you plan on volunteering at a school function, please be prepared to perform the following:
Provide proof of vaccination to front office staff prior to the function through either of the following methods;
Present a COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card,
A photo of a Vaccination Record Card in a separate document,
A photo of a Vaccination Record Card on a phone or electronic device,
Documentation of COVID-19 vaccination from a healthcare provider,
Digital record that includes a QR code from https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov.
Provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result dated within seven calendar days of the function. The test must fulfill the following requirements;
Be an antigen or PCR(molecular) test administered at a COVID-19 testing facility listed on sbcovid19.com,
It cannot be an at-home test.
YCJUSD will not be storing your vaccination records. School and district staff will only need to visually verify your COVID-19 vaccination status once and will make note of your status in our volunteer management system. Your status will be maintained in a manner that ensures your privacy and confidentiality. Test results will not be stored and if your vaccination status has not been verified, you will be considered unvaccinated.
Please be prepared to present your most recent test results at each function if you have not been vaccinated as these records will not be stored or maintained by the District.
Fully Vaccinated
Fully vaccinated means individuals who are considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19: two weeks or more after they have received the second dose in a two-dose series (Pfizer or Moderna), or two weeks or more after they have received a single-dose vaccine (Johnson and Johnson). Individuals are considered unvaccinated until either of these scenarios are completed.
Testing
A variety of free testing locations are available to you through sbcovid19.org. At-home tests cannot be accepted.
We appreciate your support and ask that you work with our staff who will be inquiring about your status for upcoming school functions. This is an order from the State of California and can be accessed by clicking the link below.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the changes mentioned above, please contact your site administrator or Lancey_Bradley@ycjusd.us.
