Panther Pause
20 years of Pride at Colleyville Heritage High School
4.28.17
Panthers,
May is upon us at CHHS. It is crazy how fast time flies when you are having fun. Next week begins the biggest two weeks at CHHS. Almost every student will take some form of standardized test which provides a high level of stress for our kids. We, as a school, will do our best to assist our students in managing their stress and to remind students to do their best on a test they've worked so hard to prepare for.
As always at CHHS, there is so much going on that I couldn't possibly recognize it all. Our district wide Rachel's Challenge Rally will be held tomorrow morning at CHHS at 9am. I hope everyone will come out and support the mission of Rachel's Challenge. Last weekend was the academic UIL state competition and our very own Madison Jennings took 4th place in ready writing. Our baseball and softball teams have begun the important parts of their season. Softball was able to win game 1 in their best out of three playoff series. They will continue tonight as they travel to South Hills HS for game two tonight at 7 pm. Baseball will host our crosstown friends tonight, GHS. Get there early to get your seat for the 7:30pm first pitch. Have a great weekend and GO PANTHERS!!

Student Voice
One of the things that I enjoy most about Colleyville Heritage High School is the interconnected and open-minded student body that we have. In our school, our student body is filled with so much diversity, yet it brings us all together. This diversity is exhibited and valued through clubs such as Panthers International. The cooperation that we practice doesn't leave us ignorant of the world around us, which shapes into better individuals that will someday advance society.
Another thing that I enjoy about Colleyville Heritage High School is the school's ability to facilitate growth towards our futures through career specific classes that other schools may not have access to, particularly in our science department. This emphasis on education has cultivated an attitude of self-discipline and self-study that will make the transition to college much more natural. Furthermore, we also have access to classes that focus on college readiness, including the PSAT preparation class that is offered to juniors.

CHHS PTSA is providing snacks for teachers those two weeks to help them out. (AP Booster Club provides snacks for students while testing). If you’d like to donate snack items for teachers, please sign up at this link. All items should be dropped off at the CHHS Main Office by Monday, May 1 (except for the fresh fruit, which needs to be dropped off on Wednesday, May 3 in the office). Questions? ACCEPTED Wall
Exciting New Endeavor! CHHS PTSA is collaborating with CHHS AVID to create a space on our campus that will showcase the accomplishments of our CHHS seniors and where they have been accepted to college. It will be called an ACCEPTED Wall. The purpose of the ACCEPTED Wall is to highlight exceptional college campuses all over the United States and beyond, and to start a conversation about how and why to choose a school of higher learning.
Here is how students and parents can help:
1. We would like pennants from colleges that you visit. While you are on a tour, pick up a pennant to donate. They can be dropped at the CHHS office beginning Tuesday, January 17th .
2. When you receive acceptance confirmation and decide on a college, scan your letter and send it Dawn Treese at dawn@treese.org. These will be framed and hung on the ACCEPTED Wall.
Questions? Contact Dawn Treese at dawn@treese.org
