Nixon Elementary Weekly Update

November 23, 2020

Thank you families!

I want to say a bit thank you to all of the families who attended our Parent-Teacher conferences last week. Many families participated in virtual conferences through Zoom and Google Meet, and several other families were able to call in and do a phone conference with their child's teacher. Thank you for those who attended, and are planning to attend in the next few days, as we wrap up our fall conferences. If you were not able to meet with your child's teacher, please reach out and we will work to find a time and method that works best for you. We know many of our Remote Learners (who have been remote all year) may still be waiting to meet with their child's online teacher--we appreciate your patience as our remote teachers have 40+ conferences to hold this year.

In addition, I would like to say a big thank you again for all of your help at home with getting your children logged on for class. We have had record turn outs for our morning virtual announcements (over 140 last week), and we hope all of our Bobcats will join us daily from 8:45-9:00 to hear the latest updates for Nixon, celebrate our birthdays for the day, hear some awesome Shout Outs from staff, and enjoy touching in as a community. If your child is a Remote Learning all of the time and is able to attend our morning announcements because they have live class in the afternoon, we would love to see them online by clicking on this link.

Just a reminder that a decision will be made and communicated Tuesday, November 24, as to whether CRCSD will file for another 14-day waiver from the Iowa Department of Education. You can read more about this by clicking here.

I hope everyone has a restful and relaxing Thanksgiving break. Please reach out with any questions about remote learning, morning announcements, or the potential for an additional 14-day waiver.
