Jan 9: Summer W. in Mrs. Miller's class

News from the gym

Welcome to winter-please help your child participate actively in physical education by making sure they are dressed appropriately and have the correct shoes. If your child chooses to wear boots to school, please make sure they have tennis shoes in their backpack so they can change before class. Please help me by making sure your child is prepared for PE on their regular PE day (Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday) and Thursday and Friday. Thanks so much for helping your child be active in PE.

In PE over the next few weeks, we will be working on balance and coordination activities in grades 1 and 2. Some of the activities will include jumping rope and balance beam as well as the basic skills of hopping, skipping, galloping, etc. We will also be doing those jump rope activities in cooperation with our Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart activities for the month of February (February is Heart Month). Be on the lookout for those donation packets the first week of February.

In grades 3 and 4 we will be making exercise videos. These videos will be group activities for use in their classroom for brain breaks as needed. Each group will make a video that includes 6-8 different activities. A requirement for the video will be to include all 5 Components of Fitness. We will also be doing Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart activities for the month of February. Pictured below are 4th graders working on the videos.
