Plan A Transition
Carroll Magnet Middle School - Thursday, April 8
What do I need to know this week?
Welcome back!
I hope that all of our families enjoyed some rest and relaxation over spring break. Starting tomorrow, Thursday, April 8, 55% of our families will be returning to daily in-person learning, while 45% of our families will remain in the Virtual Academy through the end of the school year. Families with students who had to transition to a new team should have received information from their newly assigned core teams. Students who remained in the Virtual Academy on Team Innovate, our fully in-person team, and students who transitioned to Plan A on Team Dream, our Virtual Academy team, were placed on new teams.
Daily Schedule
All students, in-person and Virtual Academy, will now follow the same 7:30 a.m. - 2:15 p.m. schedule. This affords students who are in the Virtual Academy to have continued access to elective courses.
Virtual Academy
Virtual Academy students will begin their day in our My Learning course with their Core 1 teacher. For all core classes, teachers will provide independent and/or collaborative work time within their fifty minute blocks to reduce required screen time. Additionally, teachers will assign specific students to study and support sessions for intentional goal-driven support and/or enrichment. Lunch will be independent for students unless a special offering is communicated by a teacher. Community is a designated time facilitated by Core 1 teachers to support the social-emotional needs of students and may not be a required Meet each day.
Daily In-Person Learning
Students will participate in a twenty-five minute Leadership class, four fifty-three minute core classes, two fifty-three minute electives on Tuesdays and Thursdays, a twenty-five minute lunch, and a thirteen minute social break. On Mondays and Fridays, students will participate in one fifty-three minute elective and one study and support class.
Screenings
On-site screenings will no longer occur. Please check your child's temperature each day before school. Students should not be in school if they are diagnosed with COVID-19, exposed to someone with COVID-19, instructed to quarantine, or if they are sick or experiencing any of these symptoms:
100.4° fever or higher
Sore throat
New cough
New shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
