Celebrating Black History Month
William James Basie
William James "Count" Basie was an American jazz pianist, organist, bandleader, and composer born and raised in Red Bank, NJ. In 1958, Basie became the first African-American male recipient of a Grammy Award.
Thomas Mundy Peterson
Thomas Mundy Peterson of Perth Amboy, New Jersey was the first African-American to vote in an election under the just-enacted provisions of the 15th Amendment to the United States Constitution. His vote was cast on March 31, 1870
Shade Lee
Shade Lee, was one of the original Tuskeegee Airmen. He wrote recommendations which became a model for President Truman’s 1948 Executive Order to integrate the military. He is from Elizabeth.
Paul Leroy Robeson
Paul Leroy Robeson was an Amerian Bass-Baritone concert artist, stage and film actor, professional football player, and activist who became famous both for his cultural accomplishments and for his political stances.
In 1915, Robeson received an academic scholarship to Rutgers University where he was twice named a consensus All-American in football and was the class Valedictorian. He received his LL.B. from Columbia Law School while playing in the NFL. After graduation, he became a figure in the Harlem Renaissance.
Sheila Oliver
Lieutenant Governor Oliver was inspired as a young girl to be a fighter for the voiceless. She has since pioneered a successful career in public service advocating for social justice, women’s equality, and education, ultimately becoming the first woman of color to serve in a statewide elected office in New Jersey history. In 2021, Lt. Governor Oliver was reelected to serve a second term in office.
Larry Doby
Larry Doby was the first African American to play in the American League, this occurring just eleven weeks after Jackie Robinson, of the Brooklyn Dodgers in the National League, became the first black in modern major league baseball. Doby was also the second African American to manage a major league baseball team-the Chicago White in 1978. Born in Camden, South Carolina, he moved to Paterson, New Jersey in his youth and became an all-state athlete in football, baseball, and basketball at Paterson Eastside High School.

Good News
Congratulations LTHS Girls Bowling team for winning The South Jersey Group 3 State Championship! They will be bowling in New Brunswick for an overall State Title!
Senior Troy Buxton scored his 1,000th point on a free throw in the second quarter. Congratulations!
School Record
The 4 x 200 team of Olivia Miller, Katrina Conti, Sofia Reid, and Anna Roth broke the previous record from 2008 running 1:49.32.
Team of the Week!
The LTHS Boys Basketball named Jersey Mike’s team of the week!
Another School Record
Anna Roth also breaks her own record in triple jump by over a foot, jumping 35-10.25.
Sophomore Avery Johnson is the new school record holder in the 600m!! Her time of 1:47.45 beat the previous record by 3 seconds.
Lacey Girls Track won the team title at the Egg Invitational. Big performances all around.
Olivia Miller is our new freshman school record holder in the 55m!!! Liv broke 8 sec in the race for the first time running 7.89 seconds, breaking the previous record of 7.95 set in 2012.
Couples 1st Place High Game with a 246 in the Lakewood Scotch Doubles Tournament, Brianna Vazquez & Eddie Fusciello.
Coming in 3rd Place Team Overall was Lacey Navy, Lauren Haynes & Erik Schneider, Brianna Vazquez & Eddie Fusciello, Briana Naden & Nick Heitz.
LTHS Drama Presents - Disney's The Little Mermaid
Lacey Township High School Theatre Company's production of Disney's The Little Mermaid. Tickets are available for shows on March 30, 31, and April 01 at 7:00 pm and April 02 at 2:00 pm.

Chromebook Insurance is now available to be purchased for your student's device.
Please consider purchasing the Chromebook Insurance. Information can be found in this document: Chromebook Protection Plan. You may sign up for the protection plan by going to the parent portal and clicking the "Parent Questions" link. It will bring you to a page where you may sign up. Payment can be made at PaySchools Central or sent to LTHS Main Office. Even if your student receives free/reduced lunch, you still must answer yes to the questions in the portal.

LTHS Community Closet
The Community Closet is being made available again for students to access FREE personal care items and hygiene products. Below you will find an electronic request form where you can submit a request for any items that you are in need of. These confidential requests will go directly to Cayenne Mandes and administration and will not be seen by any other students or staff. A care package will be put together for you. Please consider becoming a member of our LTHS PTSA. By becoming a member, you would be helping our PTSA fund the various ways we support our students such as donating money to our student events (proms, field days, assemblies, project graduation, etc.) as well as funding supplies for our school and student scholarships. Membership forms can be printed and sent to the LTHS Main Office.
