Mountain Building Project
Names and Processes
There are three ways for a mountain to form where the first process is fold. This is where the tectonic plates of the Earth collide and pile up on each other over time. The type of rock usually found at these mountains is sedimentary. The next is Block mountains which are where blocks of the Earth's crust are pushed in up and down directions somewhat like transform boundaries but at a 90 degree angle. The last is a Volcanic mountain which is basically the lava of a volcanic eruption piled up on itself forming a mountain.
