The Printing Press and its Impact
by: Hannah Oliver
The movable type printing press was created by Johann Gutenberg in 1452. Before this invention, books were rare and expensive. By the 1500s, the printing press was widespread throughout Europe and was used in a lot of countries. This aided in the distribution of Columbus's letter throughout Europe, and many editions of this letter were published in Rome.
