Screening Procedures and Phone Calls
Abrams Teachers will be calling families to ask the following screening questions:
- Did you travel more than 100 miles any time after December 21?
- Did you have individual(s) in your home who live more than 100 miles away after December 21
- Was anyone in your household exposed to anyone who has tested positive for COVID over the last two weeks?
- Did anyone in your household test positive for COVID over the last two weeks?
- Is anyone in your household experiencing loss of taste or smell?
- Is anyone in your household experiencing two or more of the following symptoms: cough, fever, fatigue, runny nose, sore throat, body aches, tightness in chest?
If you answer yes to any of these questions, our school nurse will be calling you for additional screening.
By engaging in this screening process, we hope to be able to return to face to face learning by the 19th of January.
We have appreciated your efforts to keep sick children home in the first semester of school. We have been fortunate to not have any outbreaks of COVID-19 at Abrams. An outbreak is defined as two or more confirmed COVID-19 cases among students/teachers/staff from separate households with symptoms appearing within 14 days in a single classroom or cohort. This would include students who happen to test positive on the same day and the exposure was documented outside of school.)
In many cases, your child's classroom teacher will be calling you, however you may receive a phone call from a non-classroom teacher, (related arts, special education, ELL). If you receive more than one phone call, please let the person calling you know that you have already answered the questions. We have worked to identify family members and avoid multiple phone calls, but if we missed some, please let us know.
Teachers will mostly be making those phone calls through Remind. We ask that you please answer the phone when we call so that we can expedite the screening process.
